We have lived at The Fairways for almost a year and a half. Thankfully, our lease is up in a couple of months. Our problems began when their leaky roofs caused nearly half of the ceiling over our patio to mold and eventually fall out completely. It was a mess. We notified the staff at least 3 times before a contractor finally showed up A MONTH later to fix the fallen in ceiling. We have also had our refrigerator stop working twice (which I understand, isn't necessarily their fault, however we have not been reimbursed for the ruined groceries at all). I asked the manager what their policy is on this, and he gave me such a hard time about it that I decided not to even mess with getting the (maximum) $50 he said he could reimburse us. This was my first mistake, since they try to squeeze out every dollar possible from us, I should've returned the favor.

My most recent experience was when I was at home alone (my husband was at work), and 5 "interesting" looking men started banging on my door numerous times. When I finally was able to get my dog in the other room, I headed over to open the door to see what they wanted. Before I could get there, they took it upon themselves to unlock my door. Had I not had the dead bolt locked, they could've come in when I was sleeping or taking a shower. I didn't recognize these men as part of the maintenance staff, and none of them had uniforms or any kind of identification. They needed to come "fix something on the fire alarm." We never received a notice that we should be expecting anyone to come by, and we certainly didn't give them advance permission to enter (whether we were home or not). I can overlook a lot of issues, but this was really inconsiderate in my opinion.

Needless to say, we are very excited to be moving out.

If you could write me back at kararice@verizon.net I would really appreciate it. My husband and I just moved out two weeks ago and we have had many of the same issues and more. We will be taking action against the complex.

What unit were you in? Was it a bayhill unit?
