Fairways Hell....

I have to say that from the looks of things we thought the place was great....for about a second. The fairways according to me and many others on this site has an unwaivering method of BAD operation. I have lived in 6 apartment complexes in my life and most were high end or luxury apartments. The fairways appears to be a luxury apartment but is run like a roach motel. Let me tell you about my experience with this place. My husband and I moved into the Fairways in March of 2006 and took a unit that wasn't quite ready for us to view, however we did see the exact floorplan of another unit. Two days before our move in, we came by to do the walk through and fill out our condition report. A condition report that I was told was to remain in our file and be used again at our time of move out to make sure we weren't charged for things that were on it at the time of move in. The condition report has magically disappeared from our file by the way! Anyway, I walked in to find ugly and stained berber carpet. I wasn't told the unit would have berber or that it would be in the condition it was in. I was pissed to say the least. I filled out the condition report marking all the dark grey spots I saw and frayed edges. I informed Courtney that I wasn't happy about the carpet and right then the promises began. With only two days before our move, I felt my back against the wall. She promised the carpet would be cleaned and the spots removed before moving in, she even said they would look into changing the carpet since it was ORIGINAL. We arrive two days later and of course nothing was done.......not even a cleaning. With movers there, we relunctantly moved in. I called and complained on a regular basis until finally a new maintenance superviser named Rick said he would look at it and if it looked how I described, would get it replaced. I scheduled two appointments, stayed home all day waiting for this guy, only to have him never show both times!! I told the office staff and they consistantly pretended to give a damn and never did anything about it. Soon after Rick was gone and a new guy was there. I couldn't even keep up with the maintence staff as it is a revolving door. Another time, maintenance guys walked in my apartment while I was there unannounced and without permission to enter. One guy tried to even walk back to my bedroom while me and my husband were in bed even AFTER I told him I was getting dressed and to please wait outside. We then rented a garage which is about a hundred bucks extra...we requested numerous times for them to please give us a key to the hall door or change the locks to match our house key (they are supposed to do this) because we only were given garage openers and had no hallway access. We had the garage for a year and they never fixed the issue. One of the worst things was when our a/c went out right after I had our baby. This was just a few months ago and my baby was 2-3 months old and I informed them that I had a new baby and I couldn't stay in a hot apartment long. We put the work order in on a Thursday and the job wasn't completed until the NEXT FRIDAY!!! IT WAS AWFUL...I called and they said it wasn't an emergency and that is when I lost it. There are numerous other small things.....losing one of our rent checks then trying to charge us late charges, never being able to get a hold of the apartment manager on the phone or see him/her in person, a staff that lies and makes promises they never intend on keeping. Another huge problem is if you enjoy getting your packages that family and friends mail you, then I wouldn't move here. The office is the most laze ass group of people I have ever seen. MISTI AND KEELY IN PARTICULAR!We had numerous packages sent to us and they would just sit in the office even after I called numerous times looking for them I would just immediately get told they weren't there. Keely is the worst about this, that girl is so lazy I can't even believe she still works there. I called her several times about packages that I knew were in the office because I contacted either UPS, Fedex or the post office and they all confirmed office staff signed for them. After 10 days of not finding my packages, I called the office once again and Keely said it wasn't there. I knew this couldn't be true so I walked down to the office and informed her to walk her lazy ass back and look again...SURE ENOUGH, NOT ONE, BUT THREE PACKAGES WERE THERE FOR ME. They were delived 7-10 days earlier and I asked her ...."What the hell, why did I keep calling and you kept telling me they weren't here" Her response floored me....she said.."It's not like they were down here very long" I couldn't believe the audacity! The most recent events my husband and I are dealing with are that we have moved out of the Fairways a month ago after buying a home. We did everything they asked and more. We filled out our 30 day notice and some dim-whit staff member named Scott, never even turned it in or told the managment that we were moving out. Secondly, we cleaned and asked for touch up paint and were denied the touch up paint AFTER bringing down plastic containers to leave down there for them to give us paint. We were told this is procedure and they would have the paint put in our containers and we could get it the next day. Misti told me this and when we went back to get the paint, Keely only gave us white, not the beige for the walls. I was upset and called her. More promises of "we would never charge you to paint" and "our wall paint is backordered and I will tell Misti about it and you'll never be charged" Thankfully my husband and I have taken many pictures after moving out because two weeks after we were moved into our new home, we get a bill for $950.00 !! They are trying to charge us for PAINT, CARPET, a BROKEN FAUCET, and TRASH. The faucet is just an all out lie! We are another one of the many people they are trying to get over on and it isn't going to work. I have called and spoken to them and after speaking with Misti, she started trying to bargain with me and trying to reduce the carpet charge by half since she says she "knows it is original". I of course told them this is unacceptable. I informed them of my plans to take legal action. I am looking for anyone who has similar experiences or any grievances with the complex. I am currently working on contacting consumer advocacy groups as well as tenant right's groups who specialize in this. Legal action will be next. If you'd like to pull together, I would love to hear from you. I lived at many apartments before and only had one other place I would compare to being this bad. Many apartments are out there that do not treat people like this. I urge anyone that if they are considering the Fairways, please look elseware because the staff is the main issue with this place. They do not care about you and they WILL tell you whatever you want to hear at the moment. When it comes down to it, they are just trying to pass the buck off on you for the costs of their repairs and typical replacements they have to do anyway. If you do choose to move in, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.

That's very concerning. I may not have any legal action to pool in with yours, but I can definitely empathize with what you're going through. They've taken care of me a couple times, but the credit would be given to Scott (maint guy). Other than that, the staff is pathetic all-around. Keely is a dumbass. I wonder if she knows that people repeatedly mention her name over and over again on here. You may contact me at vidya2002@hotmail.com. I'd be very interested in talking with you.

yes, I would love to talk to you.... I have had big problems with the Fairways too. We lived there for almost 3 years. They ruined our credit with repair bills they attatched to credit report. The same thing that happened to you happened to us.

Eek. I lived at the Fairways for 2 months and got out. The list of problems just kept growing - mold (got painted over instead of cleaned), rodent feces, no key to our outdoor closet, etc, etc. Resolution was either painfully slow or they never came at all. Of all the times I called the office, I got someone on the phone maybe 4 times. The message says something like "We'd be happy to get return your call..." but that NEVER happens. I once left 5 or 6 messages, then called again and finally got someone on the phone. They transferred me to Courtney, who I had been trying to reach. She said that there were no messages. Lies! Anyway, good luck in your quest. I'm going to double check my credit report for anything fishy after what you wrote.

Must be nice to be able to say whatever you want with no concern for the facts. As anyone can see, the website has this *disclaimer to aid you in your attempt to ruin the reputation of this property. Why don't you go ahead and retain an attorney Kara - or can't you get one to take your case. Also, we have your original Move-in inventory, you may pick up a copy at any time. Learn how to construct a simple sentence, Kara, before you start throwing the "dumb-ass" insult; you lose credibility. I'm gonna check our credit reports too. Although we didn't have the maintenance problems, they never fixed what was annotated on our check in list. The manager never returned my phone calls about my deposit that I should have received back and I never receive any thing stating as to why the deposit was not returned. Reading all these posts just makes me angier.

Hello again.?? I'm the tenant/agent that wrote that last lengthy review.I think we all need to get together and discuss the issues in person. My email is dlmc1957@yahoo.com?? Are you aware that if the management does not return 100% of your deposits, or returns a partial deposit without a complete list of charges attached, by the 30th day after you move out you can file against them for 3 times the deposit amount, plus court costs and 100.00.?? To verify this pull up Texas Tenant Law on the net and read about it.
