Firstly, let me say I've been at the Fairways for less than a month, and I'm already regretting my decision. Let me start at the top:

Firstly, the management is, for lack of a more graceful term, idiotic. I had to all but threaten a lawsuit to get my application approved. I have no criminal record whatsoever, great credit, and I exceed the income requirement by more than double. So why all the trouble getting my application approved' Well, let's just say the entire management team is caucasian. I am not. My application sat on the management's desk for a full week. Everyday I called to inquire about the status of my application; "It's on her computer screen right now, she's looking at it right now. We'll call you back later today". After letting this go on for a week or so, I had one of my associates call who happens to know Federal law regarding fair housing. My application was approved that day.

Now that I've moved in, I've noticed many things (both good and bad) about the unit. To my delight (and surprise, given the comments on this section) the unit was cleaned as promised. I couldn't tell if the paint was fresh or not, but the carpets and other surfaces were recently cleaned. Of course, at no time during all of this was I made aware of the roach problem. Not even 2 days after I moved in, and I must've killed, or saw, at least half a dozen large roaches scurrying around. Now I know it couldn't be me...who gets roaches after living in a clean unit for only two days' Anyway, the ice maker in the apartment broke and, true to the other reviews on this board, they informed me that it'd take about a week to fix due to them having to fix a ton of broken a/c units. The maintenance actually fixed it a week and a day from the request, so I can't be upset about that, but I can say that taking so long to fix a/c units in Texas at the start of summer is...unacceptable. The a/c problem was in full-swing on the day I viewed the place. I know this because not one, two, but three people came in to complain about it while I was sitting there filling out my application.

This should've been my first clue.

To bring this to a close, I really have giving such a bad review based on such a short time in the unit, but between the obviously racist management and the roach-infested unit, I'd have to say this place isn't fit for even section 8, like one other reviewer suggested. Viki, the office manager, is as condescending as they come. The rest of the staff is either lazy or incompetent. I can seriously say that I'm regretting not spending the $50 more to live in the Village on the Lakes or South Shore Lakes or any of the other complexes in the immediate area. If you're looking for a place to stay in the Clear Lake / League City area, stay away from here; you'll regret it.

Oh, by the way, what management company feels the need to defend themselves on a review website' I've noticed more than a few responses written by management staff of the Fairways. Who does that'

Would you mind telling us what unit you are in? Would any of you out there with Roaches etc. please tell us what your unit #'s are? That way the owners who are checking this can get back to the management Co. about the lack of care for their tenants. Owners are beginning to check this site but think it is not their unit, but someone else's. Since you are complaining in a public forum, and you have already turned your complaints over to management, it would sure help owners to know. The tenants who are writing these reports have NEVER send letters out to us owners. Do you think management will share this with us? Doubtfull. Thank you.

Like many apartment complexes, the tenants should be aware the owners live all over the world and cannot easily run over to check on the situation. Send the owners a letter. You can easily find them without going thru management. They want to know. Tell them what unit you are residing in and your concerns. If you are unhappy go to the owners. They do care. Often properties are not just an investment to them.

Big Roach problems, in building 13, by the landfill they call a dumpster!!! Did you all see the mountain of trash last week!!! what a disaster!!! I felt like I should be living in a landfill!!! i'm pretty sure that's one reason why we have bad roaches!!!!!!!! That and there is a gigantic gap between the my door and the framing All around it.

I will tell you that the property managment company called Asset Plus does not care either. I have written the president of the company and they have responded by saying they will immediately call me back regarding these matters. They have yet to call and it has been two weeks. I have also met person to person with management and they have done nothing. I have contacted the better business bureau as well as the attorney General's office. This week I am setting up a couple of interviews with local news stations who are interested in hearing mine and several tenants stories. I urge anyone who has a problem to please log down times and dates of events and please come up with a letter or pictures or both and contact me. I am pursuing this matter as far as I can take it and there are several consumer advocacy groups that are interested in hearing it. I'm ready to hear from some owners if they are willing. If anyone, tenant or owner wants to contact me, you can reach me at kararice@verizon.net Please do not hesitate.

Karebear98, I wish you much luck on your law suit and wish I had the time and was close enough to join in. When we left (after our 6 month lease was up) we were never told why would not be receiving our 1375.00 deposit back. If it wasn't for the fact I am no longer in the area I would have sued, but it is really inconvient for me to do so. I tell everyone I come into contact with to stay away from there and tell them about our experience.

It is always about race. I agree that this place sucks serious balls, but the race card is old and overused.

I too recently moved to The Fairways at South Shore and I wouldn't advise anyone to move here. I have HUGE cockroaches, ant, and gnats and I'm still waiting on the exterminator. They claimed someone tried to come last week, but my apartment was double locked. Vicky basically called me a "liar" on the phone when I told her that my house had been empty since six in the morning, and the exterminator was too lazy to go and do his job. The office staff is rude and not helpful at all with the exception of Keily. I'm still waiting to see if my carpet will be cleaned, but I doubt it. I'm the only one on the floor I live on with breezeway lights out, which I reported over a week ago. Nothing has been done yet. I reported five bags of garbage outside an empty apartment, and it took nearly twelve days for someone to remove them. Needless to say, this is the absolute WORSE apartment complex I have ever experienced, and I have lived here for only about three weeks. The only good thing is... I was smart enough to only sign a six month lease.

Hey Notatroublemaker, why in the heck didn't you move those bags of garbage yourself if they were bothering you? Too lazy? Not your job? Show a little initiative once and while will you?
