Seems like a good location, but not and quality went form bad to worse. STAY AWAY!

We were in a hurry and needed to find an apartment near I-45 in League City or Webster and were on a budget. There were some nicer apartments up the road, but they had no openings so we settled with Wesley Oaks over another complex because it was closer to 45. This was a mistake.

Problems...

#1 LOCATION:
First of all what seems like a good location 1 block from the freeway is a problem because you can't get out from Wesley Drive onto 518/Main Street at rush hour (or ever on the weekend) - would have to go on to the feeder and drive all the way down to the movie theater in Webster and then back up HY3 to get anywhere 1/2 the time. SUCKS!!! They were supposed to put in a light a year ago, but still haven't - something about because it is a State road (FM) the city can't do it and the state DOT has to wait for a freaking act of the legislature to appropriate the money - STUPID STUPID STUPID!

#2 SECURITY:
It seemed safe enough when we looked at it during a weekday, and aside from a few shady looking neighbors seemed safe enough when we moved in. BUT then things changed. We started noticing some of the people moving in looking like gang-bangers. It wasn't long till I started hearing about drug busts at the apartment (other side, thankfully) from a friend who worked for the city. Then there was a guy who moved into the building across from us that was real shady - had traffic of sleazy people in and out of there all times of the day and night - some looked like prostitutes and gang members. Turns out he was dealing from his apartment. By this time my wife wouldn't leave alone at night, and I did not feel safe even walking to the mail box on Friday or Saturday nights when all the thugs came out to play. The icing on this cake happened right before we moved out - a body was found in a burned out car just a couple of blocks from the apartment - a drug deal gone bad. The police suspected it was related to one of the thugs who had moved in, but last I heard had not made an arrest because the fire destroyed too much of the evidence. If we weren't about to leave anyway, this would have made us leave.

#3 Management and Maintenance:
Under this category, I could put the LACK of management and maintenance. The "management" who was there at the time was totally incompetent and irresponsive. We finally resulted in sending all of our issues to them in the form of a letter via certified mail with notices that if the situation was not resolved within a certain number of days we would send it to our attorney. That would usually get things done, but it took either that or calling them every hour on the hour, which was a bigger pain. Maintenance did everything half-assed if at all. Our apartment flooded THREE TIMES while we were there due to plumbing problems (twice due to neighbor upstairs, once because of faulty seal in pipe from water heater). The second time from upstairs is it was because they didn't fix it right the first time and it was two days before they responded. It was the weekend and they were closed and didn't check messages or pager. We (me and the two other neighbors who were flooded that time) had to take matters in our own hands to get things fixed and clean up the mess ourselves because we couldn't leave it like that.

After that we broke the lease and left as soon as we could get in another place. When the manager tried to give us a hard time I bypassed him and sent pictures of the damage and $400 in lost property directly to the owner with a letter threatening a lawsuit. Their tune changed and we happily moved out, never ever to return.
