My lease is coming up in a couple of months. I had a renewal letter on my door stating that if I renewed by Monday (I received the note on Friday), they would paint an accent wall and shampoo my carpets. The TRICK is that they were RAISING my rent by $175! Are you kidding me''' That is CRAZY! I'm in a 2 bedroom, 2bath with garage. I have to admit that other than the new people that stomp all over upstairs; I haven't had too many problems. I'm going to talk with the office and see if I can negotiate a better deal. If not, I will be moving as well.

Question - does anyone think it would be rude of me to introduce myself to the new person upstairs and ask them to not stomp, slam, and vacuum so late at night because I can hear everything they do''

I think it's a great idea to let them know who you are and mention the fact that the apartments aren't insulated well, so therefore you often hear their activity. Any reasonable neighbor would be cognitive of that and be more aware of their noise level.

I totally agree with the person above. Just let them know (I hope its not me) they shouldn't mind. Also, we are moving out in 2 weeks as well, they raised our rent by $100 for a 1 bed w/ 1 bath which I thought was crazy! Especially when you can move across the street to Broadstone where for nearly the same price you get a bigger place that is only 2 yrs old that has slate entry ways, black appliances and great customer service...not to mention great extras like amazing referral fees and very protected gates and pools.

You don't live in building 11 do you? Haha! I had the 2bed/2bath/garage a few months ago and the ppl above me drove me NUTS! One of the many reasons we moved out. --Let me warn you, save up a LOT of money before you move out... The fees will eat you alive. Also, we moved to Crescent Cove and we now have a 3 bedroom/2bath for @$900 a month... sure beats the $1200/mo rent at Chapel Hill! --And its SO quiet that I get to sleep in on Saturday mornings now! Hang in there!

I feel your pain. I have the very same problem. I am in a one bedroom with a garage. The apartment above me is a 2/2 with a garage. The people above me moved in about a month ago. They also have two dogs. Let's just say I have not had any peace since they moved in. They never sit down and relax. They stomp all hours of the day and night, what sounds like constant dropping of something very heavy and they let their dogs run all over the apartment. For "luxury" apartments, these were not built very well. Kinda seems like false advertising to me. My lease is up in December and I cannot wait to get the hell out.

I called the office and there was no negotiating the lease renewal. She said it was set by corporate and she can't change it. Looks like I will be moving!
