We moved into Chapel Hill in April 2009. This was a short-term corporate apartment usage for my husband's 3-month stay in the area. Two days into our stay, we woke in the morning to find that the plastic garbage bag and been shredded and garbage was pulled out. We assumed it was a mouse. We reported to management and they advised they couldn't do anything about it until the regularly scheduled Orkin visit at the end of that week. I indicated I was very unhappy about knowing that a mouse was running around the place and the manager advised that "it's just too expensive for them to make individual calls."
We had to travel out of town for 3 days and when we returned the Orkin rep visited and his resolution was just to place the sticky pads under the cabinets in the kitchen area! (I could have made a quick trip to Lowe's and done that myself -- I really thought he would do something a bit more effective.)
The following morning, we walked into the kitchen and saw that bananas which we had left in a fruit bowl on the countertop had been eaten! There were 4-5 bananas and all were devoured about half way up. This looked like a lot of activity for just one little mouse....and the sticky pads weren't doing anything to deter it.....actually the pads had been moved around on the kitchen floor. If this was a mouse, it was very hungry and very strong!
I went back to the management office to complain again -- and again I was told that my only recourse was to use the sticky pads provided by the Orkin rep.
I returned to the apartment and looked in the kitchen and there was the culprit. Not a mouse but a rat -- a very big rat -- just sitting right in the middle of the kitchen floor.
This time I ran back to the management office and screamed at them. I finally succeeded in getting someone to come back with me and the rat was caught and disposed of.
My husband and I moved out that afternoon and spent the rest of his business time there in a Residence Inn.
There was absolutely no apology from management -- and, as a final insult, my husband's company was charged an additional two weeks rent because we didn't give the manager notice that we were moving out!
I would not recommend Chapel Hill under any circumstances.

I lived in Chapel Hill and moved out last year. I agree, they are awful. The manager (Lisa) usually replies to reviews (sometimes anonymously) but I dont see one here.
