I lived in the Edgewater Apartments for about four years. There was at least four different managers during the time I stayed there. For the most part, I was pleased with the apartment complex during my time there. I had some issues with the maintanence being performed timely but what place is perfect. The apartment was affordable and spacious for the price along with being in a great area.
I would have loved to have stayed there longer if it was not for the unprofessional manager of the property. I had a major issue in early 2008 with cigarette smoke coming into my apartment which was on the second floor. I believed it was coming in from a new tenant's apartment. I had never had this problem prior to February 2008.
Well, I brought this to the property office attention and they basically told me to live with it. I spoke with the Manager and he was rude and unprofessional in his response. I had to go to the Management company that owned the property to get out of my lease several months early. I would have stayed if the Manager and his staff would have been concerned about my being allergic to cigarette smoke and offered to assist with moving cost to a new apartment in the complex. Instead of getting any type of concern, I received rude, ugly, and unprofessional response.
For any individuals interested in this apartment complex, I would recommend to keep looking rather than moving in unless you want to be treated rudely on a regular basis.

Just to let everyone know it is against the law in the state of texas to tell someone they are not allowed to smoke in their apartment. It violates fair housing. And i currently live at the edgewater and love the manager. He takes care of all major problems in a very timely manner, and is very considerate of residents feelings.

It is also against the lease contract agreement to provide a unsafe or unhealthy apartment. The manager cannot stop the tenant from smoking, but he can fix the apartment so that smoke is not going into another apartment.

To whoever made the ridiculous comment that it's against the law to prohibit smoking because of "fair housing," is an idiot. It is NOT against the law to prohibit tenants from smoking inside the unit. That will stand up in court, trust me.
