I have had problems with this apartment complex from the start. When I first moved in, there were stains on the carpet and my coat closet didn't close. When I put in a repair request for the closet, the maintenance man said that he would come back the next day to fix it but I never saw him again. This wasn't a huge deal for me so I let it slide but I do have his remarks just in case they try to come at me with a fine. The next issue I had was my bathtub. The nossle that turns the water on and off broke and I reported it the same day at 12pm. When 8:00pm came and they still hadn't come by to fix the problem,I had to call emergency maintenence to come fix it. If I didn't, the regular maintenance guy came 2 days later. So needless to say I wouldn't have been able to take a shower for 2 days waiting on them. New Years Day 2008 came in with a loud bang when the fire alarm went off at 5:30am with no fire. I called emergency maintenence and they still haven't called me back regarding the issue. I had to call the fire dept to come and turn off the alarm. The smell from the dump really doesn't bother me because I knew what I was getting into when a friend of mine lived here before me. Also, beware that you have to use the apartments cable company Direct Path for your cable service. They didn't send me a December bill and the girl told me that someone called in to cancel my service when I hadn't. Then they charged me $101 for services used for December, January and February 2008 and February hasn't even gotten here yet! I just didn't like how I was treated while living here. The one person I do like here is Alex. He always made sure to get my issues fixed if I spoke to him. I can't stand Jess. She was the one that had my tub not fixed for 2 days. I sooo can't wait to leave this place. I deserve to be treated way better than this for the money I pay!

The problem was the management..When I had lived there..there was a turnover in management at least 3 times. I only went to 2 others, some girl who has since moved over the past several months and Alex. He was very helpul to me and was the only one capable of handling any issues in a timely manner. I had some major issues with my apartment, a leak in my closet, unpatched work going on for 2 weeks, my faucet to my shower not turning, my stove went out, my toilets were constantly overflowing, bug problems, but the minute I get on the phone with their corporate office a woman would run over here and have someone fix it quickly.
In the summertimes they need to stop the sprinkler systems, it was always muddy and attracted more bugs and snakes..yes people, snakes from running around on their grounds. The pools were never open, I was raped on my rent by some stupid girl in the ofice who didn't know what floorplan she was selling to me. (I had heard that she was fired..jeez wonder why?) Stupid on my part, but when I went to the manager @ the time they came up with some mumbo jumbo story. BS!! They needed to enforce and fix their gates, they were always open. And the heavy traffic coming in from the other apartment complexes. I would be on my patio @ night and see so many drug deals going on. Where was the LPD during those times? There are families there and it's not a family orientated environment that you see on there brochure. Not recommended. Shady deal..and they will rape you too. If you check it out ask to see a list for prices and look on the internet..they all work off of commissions so it's every man for themselves there, they don't work as a team. The prices will range from one person to the other. I was overcharged and never compensated for it, for someone's HUMAN ERROR!! ERROR!!

Well i have lived at emery bay for 1yr now and i absolutely love it.
yes there has been a change in managment, and a lot of the staff but since the new managment has taken over i can see that a lot of things have gotton better. i just think they are having to weed out all the bad employees there in order to get things in order like they need to be.
as far as the work orders go i have lived in apartment communities for a number of years and what people fail to realize is that when a resident calls in a work order for some reason they seem to think that they are the only person who has called one in apartment community gets any where from 100 to 150 work orders a day and they are takin car of in the order they are recieved so think if you call in a work order for a closet door that will not close, there is probley a couple of work orders a head of yours that might be a little more serious like a plumbing issue or a leak that needs to be taken care of immediatley, and your whining about a stupid closet door that wont close! GIVE ME A BREAK! any time i have went to the office and put in a work order i feel it has been handled in a timely manner of course emergencies are a first priority and any person with COMMON sense would know that. i think that this is a lovely community and it is family oriented, and i would definitly recommend this community. the new staff there is wonderful! and i can see that changes are being made for the better.

some of these statements sound like they are coming from some of the staff and not the actual residents. Alex was great when I was there.

I have lived here for several years and am considering leaving. A few points though, Alex was hit and miss while he was here. Sometimes he would get things taken care of and sometimes he wouldn't. The new management company is terrible. Everything has gone downhill since they have taken over. The office staff are not responsive, maintenance is terrible and the property is falling apart. I had a couple of leaks in my apartment. They fixed the leaks quickly (one was the water heater) and I was glad for that. The water damage took two months to repair. Two months. That's a terrible response time. I had to go into the office several times before they finally got it taken care of. Even then, it was a layer of paint to cover any damage. The hot tub hasn't worked in over a year. The jets work but there is no heat. The pools are usually dirty, burnt out lights don't get replaced for weeks or months if at all.
The apartments themselves are nice with a good layout and the residents tend to be pretty good people. Management on the other hand really needs to get their stuff together and do a better job. If they have a problem handling the 100 to 150 work orders a day as mentioned above, then they need to hire another maintenance person or have a contractor come in to get things caught up every now and then. There are ways to fix this, they just don't seem to care.
