Well,

This isn't the worst place to live, but two major things really irritate me: 1) My kitchen sink plumbing stinks. It's failed, and I mean failed, 3 times. To the point where all the stuff the disposer is made for comes running out on the floor, and all your stuff under the sink. The plumbing here could not meet code - no way. If it does, where there's one more datapoint about how lax Texas building codes are - I'd wager some of the most lax in the USA.

Furthermore, the garages - well, there tiny. Even the 2 car garage is really more like a big 1 car garage. Sure, I can cram two cars in, but not easily and with no room for anything else except in front. One thing's for sure, a lot of stuff isn't bigger and better in Texas.

Also, be aware that the fire station is down the street, so if you get a streetside apartment, well you'll be deafened by sirens quite often - as well as the loud Harleys. The rest of the place is very quite - or appears so.

Also, if your neighbours are in a heated discussion..well, you'll hear it. Wall's are pretty thin, but my bedrooms are isolated and not on a common wall - this is a first of any apt I've lived and is a GREAT feature.

There's not a lot of traffic in an out of the complex, which tickles me pink. At least this gives me the feeling it's pretty safe and nobody's running an illicit operation or anything. Again, one of the most safe apts I've been in.

I can't recommend based on the continual failings of the plumbing in the kitchen. I've also had the bathroom sink stop up a lot. Also, if you have friends over, they'll have to hunt to find a place to park if you are unlucky enough to get one of the garages that have NO driveway. I really felt shortchanged on this. But, I can't blame anybody but myself on this one since I took apartment sight unseen and based on a friend's recommendation.

Again, this place is clean and safe, it's just that the construction of mainly the plumbing which is absolutely the worst I've ever seen. And the toilets...well, they're the absolute cheapest around...the non-ovoid shaped ones...so if you're a guy...beware. Also, they are not insulated well, my power bill is already 140 bucks and that was for MAY!!! If it wasn't for this, it'd rate 4 stars and if parking was better, perhaps 5. Also, Target is right next door and that's very handy.

My "semi-recommendation" comes from:
1) Safe
2) Clean.
Just be aware, you're getting cheap plumbing, plumbing fixtures, and will have high utilities. Fortunately the staff is nice and courteous. As for me, I doubt I'll renew my lease.

Well, so far, NO response from the office on fixing my pipes which are broken, so it appears another night (2 now) without water in the kitchen is about to happen - no food, no dishwashing. The office staff is new, two of their all-stars (and they were good) left. Now, I've got some newbie who isn't concerned about jack prioritizing the problems. By far, this place is becoming the worst place I've lived in, from a quality of maintenance (no offense to the maintenance guy since he probably doesn't get informed of the problems) and build quality. It's horrendous. I don't want to have to move, but this is forcing the issue.

Update #2
This is now technically day 3 without running water in the kitchen due to a totally missing drain pipe that's broken. Yesterday they were "too busy" to get to it due to "the inspection," and today I was in meetings at work (you know, so I can pay the rent) all day. It's amazing how one person leaving, Danielle, can destroy a place. This new replacement just doesn't care - it's obvious.

Though it pains me to do so (because I really want to like this place) I give this place only a "2", for now, because so far it's been safe and is clean and isn't ghetto. However, it's built like junk and now the new office staff (Danielle's replacement) is generally being a PITA. If the office would make sure stuff gets fixed, then I wouldn't be so critical. But come on...2 days without the ability to use my kitchen' What gives here' The really bizzare thing is that they had an "inspection" by the management company. You'd think they'd notice something like NO plumbing being connected under the sink wouldn't you'

Avoid this place like the bubonic plague - that is if you want service from the office (other than taking rent)and like junk construction.

If this place truly values their residents, then in a case like mine, I think it's fair to be given a discount on the next month's rent (as well as possible reimbursement for meals I've had to eat out since I cannot use my kitchen).

Lastly, do NOT be fooled by all the good reviews. I may be wrong, but I've also noticed several folks moving out - is this mere coincidence'

One week since plumbing broke I have an update:

Well, the plumbing was fixed..for now. Who knows when it will break again. Got "appolgized to" by the new replacement for Danielle. However, I felt more like I was being lectured for being insubordinate to a Major General.

I will say I'm inpressed that the manager actually responded to this comment. It does show a level of commitment by her, if not the rest of her staff.

I do want to stress to the cyberworld, that my place has bad plumbing. Now, to be fair, the ceilings are finished and not "sprayed." There is nice molding on wall-ceiling interface. Paint is a nice two-tone job, appliances are nice. Overall, the appearance is nice. I again emphasize it's in a safe part of town and close (ok next door) to Super Duper Target. It's quiet on the non-street side, save the fire dept. I do hope the manager can understand my concerns about the plumbing and other possible problems. Again, the construction of this place is not her fault...she's dealing with what she's got. I don't blame her for this!! I'll upgrade my rating to a "3". It pains me to give it only a "3", because the apartment is very liveable and it's just dissapointing to have the pipes break consistently and eat up 2 hours of time cleaning the aftermath. Then to have one person be less than responsive just sent me over the edge. Dependent on the ultimate outcome of this episode, I may recommend this place. The jury is out...stay tuned. 6/25/06

Hi, my name is Angela Durrett and I am the Community Manager here at Lakepointe residences. I would just like to say to the resident who wrote this review that I am very sorry about the issues that he has experienced here at Lakepointe. I know who you are and I only wish that you would have given me the chance to to have a conversation with you concerning any problems you are having in your apartment and or with the community. I understand that Kelley failed to enter a service request for you, butI am sure the residents her will agree that normally service request are taken care of very promptly. No one is perfect. I want all of my residents to be happy living here and as you can tell from other reviews on this site, I have been pretty successful. I would love to have the chance to speak to you personally concerning your happiness here. Please understand however, that there are some things I have no control over. Such as the size of your 2-car garage or the location of the Fire Department.
Sincerely,
Angela Durrett

I shouldn't have to have a custom home to have working plumbing. That's not a lot to ask for. Whoever wrote this; and, I bet it's "K" from the office writing the "custom home" one - grow up!! As far as the garage is concerned, it's just disappointing. Again, don't expect to get 2 cars the size of Ford 500's in there. That's all I'm pointing out. My garage in FL was at least 4-5 feet wider. Florida sized:)

go back to Florida!! simple! we don't want non-texans here anyway!!!
From: LookingToMove1 Date: 06/30/2006
"Go back to Florida"? That's mature.

I appreciate the review posted by "anonymous" - it was honest and fair. No, the manager does not have control over garage size or location, but this forum is not solely for the purpose of management review. It is a review of the complex as a whole and I find it helpful to be able to read about these things while choosing where to make my new home.

I am glad to see that the community manager took the time to respond and address these concerns. However, excusing the situation with "no one is perfect" seems to dismiss the responsibilty of the office staff. No bueno.

I am a Texan, genius. Stop speaking on our behalf and stay on topic.

Its not a matter of being mature or immature; talk to a "texan", and ask one what they think of these non-texans moving here.. WE DON'T WANT YANKEES to be here!!
From: goodtobeelsewhere Date: 07/05/2006
in an answer to the idiot that said stay on the topic at hand.. i think if you were a true texan, you would understand how we texans feel about foreigners... so genius go away!!!
From: DallasKel Date: 07/06/2006
I came here to read about how others felt about the apartment complex, not listen to someone go on about so-called true texans and call people idiots. I agree, stay on the topic. You're in the wrong forum for talk of bigotry. Regardless, it is obvious it is the same person writing under different names.

Anyways, I have lived here for a little while now. The water smells sometimes. The A1 garages are TINY. Trying to squeeze past my car to get to my washer and dryer to do laundry has been a bit of a pain. I hope to not have any of the plumbing problems that this poor guy has had. I hope it has been resolved for you. Good luck!

Are the A1 garages just tight on the sides? Or infornt and behind your vehicle as well? I have a short bed F-150 pickup and a motorcycle. Will they both fit?
