Beware the Riser Room

I have really only one problem with my stay at Lakepointe since I moved there in July. My apartment is above/adjacent to a riser room, which I believe is located in every building. Approximately every two hours, it makes everything on that side of my apartment vibrate noisily.
The manager says that it is functioning normally and that there is nothing they can do. I will say that they have been very nice in the office and I do believe that they have done all they can. However, I would have never signed a lease on a noisy vibrating apartment had I known, and I truly regret that I moved in without knowledge of this problem. So I am posting this to give anyone else the information I wish I had upon choosing my apartment.
I have no idea if the other buildings have this same issue in the apartments next to the riser room. I only know of my own experience.
It is otherwise a very nice, safe and reasonably priced apartment complex. I have not smelled the dump or had parking trouble as others have complained about. I do see some cars parked in the guest spaces regularly and wonder if they are residents or just frequent guests. It hasn't really been an issue for my guests to find parking, though.
The cabinets do look cheap, as someone in another review mentioned. Everything else is nice, though. My electric bills have been higher than any other apartment I've ever lived in, though it was a very hot summer.
It took over a month to get my number working in the call box at the gate. I think a third party handles that for them, but it was still an annoyance that it took so long.
I walk over to the Target shopping center sometimes, and have always felt safe. The grounds are well lit and most everyone I have encountered has been friendly. There are quite a few dogs on the property, at least near me, and that can get noisy.
I really just have the one main complaint, otherwise I would be very happy here. Unfortunately, I deal with this problem multiple times every day and will probably not renew my lease when the time comes. I recommend this complex - if you don't pick an apartment near a riser room.....

To update: The Riser Room problem has thankfully, finally been fixed. They ran a test that showed there was, in fact, a leak and they fixed it. After six months of hassling the office and enduring day after day of this going off, I have no idea why this test was not run in July when I first asked about it. Regardless, I am happy that there was a solution to the problem, despite the fact that I was told for months that it was functioning normally and I should just get used to it. And in other news, the dump smelled awful yesterday and this morning. I guess it is weather dependent. It had not previously been much of a problem, but I woke up this morning smelling it in my apartment. It was foul. I had a friend visiting from out of town and I was mortified and embarrassed. There are many things I like about my apartment and the complex, but when it comes time that my lease is up, I will no doubt be looking elsewhere for a place to call home. |
