It's So-So

When I first moved in, thought the place was going to be wonderful! You'll have your own garage, garbage pick up, nice view, pretty quiet area. All of those are still true and what I enjoy about residing at Lakepointe. The down side is that there aren't that many visitor parking spots. They say when you sign your lease that you are required to park in your garage and the open spots are for visitors only. Well, that doesn't quite happen. Some people use their garages as storage, so they park outside. Some park directly in front of their garage, while others in the visitor spaces. The other annoying this is that some residents have big SUVs or pickups that don't fit in the garage, so the have to park outside of the garage. But when they do this, their trucks are sticking out into the drive, so you have to weave in and out to avoid hitting their vehicles. Supposedly, the new management is cracking down on this.
As far as management...There have been some really great people to work with, others not so great. The new manager seems to want to get things done. I agree with the other responses, a couple of them can appear to be pretty arrogant and can be rude. I just try to deal with the ones that are nicer and get things done.
The maintenance men are friendly, whether or not they have an accent doesn't matter to me, I just want things taken care of. They always seem to be working on something on the complex. When I first moved in, things were getting half done. Had problems with them doing what they needed to do right the first time, instead of having to keep coming back. But after they changed staff, i'm assuming things get done. I haven't had any requests. They tell you when you sign your lease what they consider an emergency, and what will get done right away.
Notifications...The only ones I see are things that we, as residents, should be aware of such as the policy about walking your dogs on property (cleaning up after them), the parking policy, the month's calendar, etc. I don't really see these as a nuisance, I like seeing that our concerns are being taken care of.
As far as the prices...When you look at the value of the ammenities, the attached garage...I think they are pricey. The only real great ammenity are the pools and the hot tub. Those are pretty much at your disposal because the complex is small, so it's rarely crowded. The "fitness center" is pretty small, and the "business center" is okay.
Bills...electric bills are high! They encourage you to get the solar screens to help with them. the apartment is drafty. The plan we're in has a lot of windows, so it's hard to conserve.
If you're looking for an apartment, you'll make up your own mind when you visit the property. Appearances aren't everything...it just depends on what you're looking for. The advantages of living here are that it's small, close to a lot of shopping and major highways, and it's away from a lot of the hustle and bustle of the city. Disadvantages...it's pricey for what you actually get, parking sucks because everyone doesn't follow the rules. As the former manager told me "we can't monitor everyone all day. I leave at 5pm." There's always those jerks who own more than their garage can handle. Whether it be extra cars or too big of a vehicle. Staff's attitudes aren't always the greatest. But hopefully, the new faces will overshadow the bad. Cleanliness. They're trying to make steps to brighten the place up again...new trees, signs, painting. Garages are great, but when the air is really humid, the doors stick. They won't go all the way up or go all the way down. One of the reviewers talked about hearing or feeling the garage if your unit is above it. This is true. You'll also hear knocking in your wall...but i think that has something to do with the A/C' or water heater'
All I have to say is "good luck" with what ever you choose to do.
