Just wanted to let it be known that we have killed 18 mice in our small 3 bedroom apartment. We are not dirty tenants, in fact our apartment is gorgeous and decorated beautifully and clean. The managers have insinuated that it is our fault all these mice are shacking up with us because "the tenants before you didn't have any problem". Well, the mainentance man told us the apartment was vacant for a long time, therefore the mice built a nice home in the walls. We killed about 12 babies, so I'm pretty sure he was right. Remember, we lived there all but one week before the first mouse spotting, and all but 3 after killing 12 mice. The management has been a bit testy and hateful about the whole thing, which has truly upset me. When we suggested we may have to move out, due to mice killings and mice blood and mice eating our food, they told us, "well, it's really hard to break a lease in Texas". Then told us it is not their responsibility to exterminate, that they only do it to be nice. Well, they did finally exterminate and we have caught one since. I do appreciate the extermination, but I don't appreciate the way the whole situation was handled by them. They offended me and my roommates very much by basically saying it was our fault and then instead of being understanding, threatened us with the fact that they will not be accommodating if we decide it would be better for our health and safety to move out. Just a tid bit of information for anyone looking into it. I love the apt. though it is hot all the time, and that is a major down side. Other than that, it's cute and a good location.

Make sure you keep a good record of this and get everything in writing. Take photos. If the mice caused any damage whatsoever, they will jump on the chance to charge you for it. The staff there are eager to blame you for their problems and won't hesitate to lie. Research contacting the health department or Texas Apartment Association and report all of this to the Better Business Bureau. It is NOT okay for them to treat their tenants this way. Good luck.

I appreciate your willingness to review a horrible situation and still believe living her is okay. If you will re-read my notes to you, I make it quite clear the rodent problem was not your fault in any way. As soon as I was made aware of it, I had our maintenace man move the bait station from the office to your building. I had maintenance come and get the trapped vermon so you wouldn't have to deal with them. The previous resident transferred ownstairs from you on 9/22/07, you moved in on 10/19/07. That barely gave us enough time to get your home ready for you. I sincerely apologize for the situation as I've said repeatedly. The only reason it got "testy" was because you ladies "suggested" an attorney may get involved. At that point, clear documentation is required so I referred back to the lease which requires all requests be in writing. I am grateful the situation has lessened for you.

I just wanted to throw in a personal note regarding the health department. We are not, nor have we ever been a dirty, or unsanitary property. Unfortunately, mice happen and there is no good way to get rid of them other than baits or traps. We did contact the city, as I told you all, and they even said there was nothing more we could do. Never once did I say it was your fault, that was completely mis-interpreted. I simply said that the previous tenants did not have this problem, nor did anyone on property. There were others that had mice, myself included, but it is simply what happens when cold weather occurs. I was just puzzled by the amount you caught. I am so sorry for everything you guys have gone through, however it is not fault of ours, as we certainly did not place the mice in your apartment, and it is no fault of yours either. We did everything possible to help you all get through this horrible situation.

I didn't say it was your fault guys, that is obvious. I just think 18 is a lot, the way it was handled was not great, and before any professional came out we killed 17, and that is a valid point for someone to consider when looking at apartments. That's it. I never thought it was your fault, just wanted it to be taken care of without all the needless pointing fingers. It was all fine and we were simply telling you, hey, mice number 12, and I think it got taken as we thought it was your fault then the finger pointing started. It's all stupid, the mice have lessened, no one is blaming you, and this site is for expressing concerns and praises, and I said both, so... moving on. I'll post one at the end about how great it was if it goes great, which I'm sure it will. Have a good day.

I lived here a little more than a year ago. My problems were mainly related to the kitchen drains that broke continuously. However, when I moved out, I broke my lease on short notice since I had gotten a new job out of town. Management showed absolutely NO courtesy and became rather testy. I asked for a letter of good faith from them to lease the apartment as soon as they could. Well, they didn't lease it until the month after my original lease would have been up. This benefited them due to the terms of the lease. I had been a resident for 9 months. So, they back billed me for the discounted lease, charged me the one month extra penalty (which if they had leased it before my lease was up they'd have forfeited) and then didn't rent it. So they bascically got an extra month's worth of rent, PLUS the discount (which is legit, but they didn't even want to work with me on this). Hence, this is why I asked for the letter of good faith since my previous dispute with the plumbing had caused quite a bit of tension. I got the letter, but not the good faith. As a result, I cannot recommend this place to anybody, and warn the poster that if they plan on breaking the lease, Lakepointe is NOT going to work with you. Texas law is set up to protect these places, NOT to protect the consumer. Also, when I started my rent, this place rated about 80% on here, it's dropped considerably.

jjacks82, management at Lakepointe get very defensive if you complain about anything and try to turn it around on you any way they can. You were beyond justified to be upset by your situation. I hope the situation has gotten better for you and that this is the end of your problems at Lakepointe.
