Problems, Problems, Problems.

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
Ok, I?ve lived here for about a year and there have been a few things that I have had a problem with. But for some reason, things have just gotten worse the closer it gets for my lease to end.
First of all, what?s the point of having a gated access community when the gates are always open'' I think the damn things haven?t worked since I moved there. Seems rather pointless. I also noticed the other day that the access panel for the gates is broken and is just hanging open and that the track the keeps the gate in place has come off.
Second, yes people with dogs don?t clean up their dogs? poop. I don?t know what?s up with that. But then again, this place doesn?t have those nice little stations that other apartments have with the bags for the poop and a trash can. Ok, granted, we are all adults and we should take SOME pride in where we live. And I only brought that up because I was told when I moved in that they were going to get them.
Third, who is that idiot with the loud car anyway'' Come on now. Is that really necessary'' Especially at 2 in the morning''
Fourth, why has the laundry door been broken for over 2 months and no one has fixed it'' Again, why have a code to get in somewhere if you can just turn the knob and walk in'' Oh, and sometimes that laundry room is a mess. People just don?t clean up after themselves.
And finally, why do they let just anyone move in here'' I had a lot of problems with the person who lived on the 3rd floor over me. For some reason, she liked to go out on the balcony in the middle of the night on a weekday and have a nice little party out there with some of her friends. Also, she liked to throw food off the balcony and it would end up on the air condition units outside of my bedroom window. The final straw was when she had one of those little balcony parties and the next day there was trash all over the lawn in the back. The first couple of months it felt like I was living in a damn dorm room instead of an "upscale" apartment. Since my building houses only 1 bedroom apartments, it seems like there were a lot of college students in the building.
I?m convinced that the problems at Limestone Ranch stem from the people that they let in there, and not so much the apartment themselves.
Oh wait!! I almost forgot about the little....ah, I mean BIG incident in February. It seems that during the big freezing rain we had the last week of February; one of the sprinkler system pipes froze and busted on the 3rd floor in my building. The fire alarm went off and the firemen had to come. Water trickled down from the 3rd to the 2nd and then down to my apartment. I had to spend the night at a hotel because of it. Oh, and it wasn?t just in my building (building 1), it happened in building 11 too. That was the turning point for me. I decided to move as soon as my lease was up. Who knows what kind of damage all that water made to the floor of those apartments.
And now for another kicker...the electric bill. December?s bill came in at $69 and now March?s bill came in at $85!!!!! I live in a 625 sq ft apartment and I live alone!!! Well, when I called the electric company, they said that they were billing me from January to March. What the hell'' Is it my fault that the reading didn?t come in on time'' No. Also, is it my fault that they didn?t charge me an activation fee back in June when they should have and they just NOW realized it'' No. And all of this pisses me off because I thought I was being good this month since I had turned off my heater and I haven?t even turned on my AC. And yet I ended up with an $85 electric bill. Oh, this was nice.....the lady at the electric company was SOOOO helpful (can you feel the sarcasm''). As she put it, "yeah, it?s not your fault that we didn?t get a reading earlier but you DID use the electricity". Also, if I wanted an extension or a payment plan for this bill, I would have to wait AFTER the bill is due and request it. Oh, great. Have to call back and waste my time!! Forget that, Jack. I don?t think so. I?m telling you, First Choice Power sucks.
There is only one saving grace to this place. And I?ll pay homage to him now because he?s not getting any recognition.....Lonnie the maintenance guy. Every time that I?ve called in about something, it gets done right away. That service is very prompt and he?s working by himself ? he has no other maintenance guys to help him. And thank goodness for him too. If it wasn?t for him, I don?t know what I would have done during the emergency in February. He drove me to the hotel when I couldn?t drive out of the parking lot due to the frozen ice everywhere, and he paid for the hotel room out of his pocket when I had no money.
Do I recommend this place'' Well, maybe. I understand that every place is going to have it?s problems but just be warned about THIS place?s problems.
Edited May 20th, 2003 -- They do have new management now. Hopefully this new manager will be able to turn things around.
