Getting Out of Da' Hood

Our stay here at Mira Vista Ranch has been similar to watching a person start experimenting drugs and watching them slip all the way to rock bottom. Since moving to the complex after it first opened, it has seen its share of apartment management, Section 8 Housing, and delinquents. Don't let the nice architecture and hard wood floors inside the buildings fool you. Most of the "tenants" and I use the word loosely, (most of them only go outside to collect their check), like to leave their trash outside their door. The complex offers curb side trash pick up but I guess that would be considered work, and their welfare checks would get canceled. The children in the book "The Lord Of The Flies" were more controlled and less destructive than the bundles of joy these people have produced. The hang out by the fence and throw rocks and bricks at passing motorists, when they aren't throwing them at the cars parked in the parking lot. Oh the rocks and bricks' They are provided by the management from the construction being done around the complex. One resident has had a car on jacks with a busted out rear windshield for over a month, and just keeps tearing the towing warnings off his car. We truly hope you love rap music and heavy bass, it is the main music you will hear at the wee hours of the morning. Oh and have a great tire repair plan. Most mornings you will find broken glass scattered around the parking lot, or on your car. If you have an aversion to dogs, well then this isn't the place. There are children walking around with pit bulls, and be careful, they tend to get off of their leashes. These items have been brought to the attention of the management but they are either unmoved to act or have no idea what to do. Half the time when you go to make a complaint they just stare at you like English isn't their language.

Lets talk amenities. There is the beautiful smell of marijuana smoke through the hallways, the fitness center that is only open during business hours because of the vandalism done by the darling children on the property. If you work an 8 to 5 job then you will never make it to the fitness center because it is closed. The pool finally opened after an almost 2 year hiatus, and the gates' well they are mostly for show. Even when they are closed, the pedestrian gate doesn't even have lock on it.

Management doesn't even have a clue. Plan to enjoy having the staff all living on the complex. The men left to keep this place running, let their kids have the run of the work shed where there is a big sign saying "Danger Chemical Storage Area", oh yeah and they are unsupervised. We had Verizon Fios workers come through here to install fiber optics, they pulled everything out of the closet, threw it on the bed, and then left a mess where they worked. At least they left a notice of them coming in. Over Memorial Day weekend they decided to change all the numbers on the door. I wasn't aware that it required them coming into the apartment. My girlfriend had the day off and was sleeping in when our dog went ape S**T barking at the door and made a defensive growl because someone was tampering with the door lock. After talking to several of our neighbors they all verified our story and confirmed that these guys were entering the apartments, and there was no notice.

For what they charge in rent, the place should be better. They say the market value is $845 a month for what we live in, but in all honesty with all that we have had to put up with, you couldn't pay us to live here any longer. Be sure to get the management to sign a copy of your letter of move out, or they will send you a renewal notice with less than 48 hours to make a decision. Ironically, we put in a written notice and two weeks later we got a second renewal notice giving us a higher rate than the first one. We had to have them sign a copy of our move out notice so that it is on file. Frankly, this place was like Rome burning and the management staff is Nero. Anyone moving in here after reading this deserves all of it.

I experienced none of this living here. I had a few rude neighbors but that's about it. management is great and the place is nice! Just couldn't afford it anymore
