I could kick myself for signing that lease. Where do I start'

I have lived here since september '07, this is my 7th month here. I'm miserable. The only good thing about these apartments are the floor plans. Everything else is rediculous. I had my initial apartment checklist turned in within my 2nd week of living here. I also sent down a hnd written list of all of my maintenence requests. They still have yet to take care of them all. I have a downstairs unit and my upstairs neighbors had 3 kids. I complained and complained about the constant stomping and the kids running and screaming around on MY front porch, and nothing was done to rectify the issue. I just had a mini celebration when they moved out about 2 weeks ago, until the new next door neighbors AND the upstairs next door neighbors, all families with kids, who feel it perfectly acceptable to have their children running around on my porch banging on my windows at my cat. I cal the office, and "they'll see what they can do" and its been a couple hours since I called, and they've done nothing. Thanks a lot!!

Speaking of the office staff!! I have payed my rent on time every month I have lived here. Except around the new year our payroll was lasped and fell on the 3rd, not before new years. We went down to the office, pleaded with them since we had been on time (early in some cases) if they could give us a couple of days since our paychecks weren't coming in before the new year. Not even a slight moment of flexibility. She just outlined the fees I would need to include with my rent check. At the old complex I lived at, the women in the office were always willing to work with us, because obviously life happens. Not here. They don't care one lick about you. Not at all.

The grounds are filthy, they charge you for trash pickup even though the dumpster is no where near your apartment, and they never seem to pick up the trash until its disgustingly overflowing with garbage. Its quite an eyesore.

The fitness center is one of the larger ones I have seen, but the machines don't work the way they should. BEWARE!! There is a screw loose in the elliptical machine, it is broken, I have told them about it multiple times, it hasn't been repaired or replaced. Because they don't care.

The swimming pools are always filthy. I know it is winter right now, but it was that way when I moved in as well. They also closed the pools down early last year even thoughit was still in the 80's and 90's outside.

I had a broken track light in my apartment, and anothers lightbulb was out, and instead of fixing or replacing the broken one, or replacing the lightbulb, they just took them. I started out with 4 in my living room and 4 in my kitchen, I now have 3 in both, and the maintenence refuses to replace the missing ones. I have asked about it probably 6 or 7 times. I have also had the displeasure of meeting about 3 heads of maintenece, each one blaming the one before for why absolutely nothing gets done around here. One told me he was backed up from July and that it would "take a while" but hes gone now so I guess by a while he meant an eternity.

The thing that gets to me the most is that I can hear everything that goes on all around me. I am a very quiet person, no kids, just me and my boyfriend, we both work full time. But my neighbors are the exact opposite. So no matter how considerate I am, people with kids just see that as an excuse to make my time at home miserable. And unfortunately for me, I do a lot of work at home, and I get zero concentration.

To be honest, I am dreaming of the day I can move out of here. I've never seen people care less about their residents and their needs. Its a shame because they have really awesome floorplans, and the opportunity to have a really awesome community. Maybe if they clean the place up (you know actually get rid of the leaves instead of just blowing them around) take care of the trash, and put people in more suitable units, so that people like me don't have to suffer the noise of kids. I don't have kids for a reason, I don't want to have to deal with yours. Theres just a long list of improvements that could and should be done. All it would take is a little more effort on their part. And a more competent maintenece staff would be a good start.

Boy am I looking forward to August 31st!!

I am sooooo sorry we have to live here with that crap. I hope that you just spend the extra money to break your lease and move it is worth every penny I PROMISE!!!!

In your contracts which you can ask for a copy of (your lease). The property management has 3 chances to make things right in your apartment. Start asking for them to make the work order in front of you and signing it. After 3 workorders being signed and dated you contact the TAA (Texas Apartment Association) They will have their asss' for not taking care of you. They are in clear violation on their end. Honestly you need to get proof and contact someone in this matter. :) Good Luck. And Can I ask you who your leasing Agent was in September?? I was there then and I'm so sorry if it was me. :'(

I am in the same complex and feel the same way! We've had so many problems... all documented of what you're going through. We're just dreaming of the day we can move as well! Since they send out so many eviction notices, we thought maybe we'd just move and roll with it. We just got these new neighbors above us and I swear they have hammering parties upstairs. They start about 9pm. AH!

I feel the same way!!! I have lived here since May and it has been one problem after another. I am paying for upgrades that have never been put in. My house is full of bugs (I have never had bugs before). When I leave to go out of town I always come home to my cat's food full of ants! Now I have black mold coming out of the vents in my apt. I called over an hour ago and was told that this would be taken care of immdeiately and no one has come by. I have written letters, called, gone to the office all to no avail. I honestly believe that they just dont care! I think I am one of very few that will pick up after their dog. I swear, this place has dog crap everywhere! The grounds are a disgrace and the trash situation is awful. What is it going to take to get the management to look at this place and see that it is terrible. When I first looked at the place I liked it but the longer I stay I wonder why. My lease isn't up until May but I want out! I just dont want to pay the cost that is incurred in moving! I am so frustrated and irritated! I am home sick this week and I keep getting worse each day I am here...BLACK MOLD! My other question is how legal is it to have 4 people in a one bedroom apartment? Not only are children living in the living room area but there are apts with more than 2 adults living in one bedroom apts. What's up with that? Oh and the dog problem. I thought this place was breed restricted! Hell no! One of the employees here has a pit that has gone after my dog on numerous occations! This is rediculous! What can I do?
