Don't Do It!

I realize that student apartment complexes are always going to be a little different. However, if you want to live close to campus I would highly recommend one of the other 4 or 5 nice complexes around. They are only slightly more expensive than Trails and a ton nicer. For the community itself, Trails is overpriced. The gates are always broken and there have been two robberies this year since I've been here. My air conditioner has broken three times this summer. It takes forever for the apartment to come fix it, and I'm assuming that if they had done it right the first time that it wouldn't have happened again. The office staff is ridiculous. None of them know what they are doing. They "misplaced" two of my packages this year. If you have any questions it is really best not to ask the office because chances are they are going to be just as clueless as you are. There is dog crap everywhere...seriously stay off the grass. The pool is filthy and was actually closed for a while because it didn't meet the health standards. The gameroom has nothing in it and has never been open to my knowledge. No one cleans or picks up around the complex so the litter is really bad. The noise can be bad on weekends which is expected from partying college students. However, a group of guys were shooting off roman candles in the parking lot...towards my truck! I turned them in but of course nothing was done and they were out there the next night as well. I just had to learn to park on the other side of the building! The electric bills get outrageous so don't be fulled by all bills paid. Our cable, which is paid for by the apartment, was shut off three times this year. I guess the apartment forgot to pay. The floor in the kitchen was filthy when we moved in...it was scratched and scuffed beyond just cleaning. On move in day we were told that the apartment would come by and thoroughly clean the floor, but that never happened. The walls are paper thin. I can hear my roommate across from me use the bathroom. Disgusting. My shower rod and blinds both broke when I did nothing to bring this on. The furnishings are all chealply made. Two of the rooms in the four bedroom apartments are bigger than the other two. Whichever roommate ends up with the larger bedrooms and bathrooms is left to chance. However, everyone still pays the same price so two people ultimately get jipped. Everyone has parking stickers but they amount to nothing since the gate stays broken. If I go out on a weekend chances are I have to park a couple of buildings away from mine because of the party goers. The parking lot isn't well lit. I'm moving out in August. I'm going to end up paying more money but it will be well worth it for the upgrade of facilities.
