I've been here quite a while and the past 3 summers have been complete hell but this one is by far starting out the worst. There are over 9 small children (all under about 11) who stay outside until at least midnight, sometimes after 1am, yelling at the top of their lungs, skateboarding and playing ball as if it were noon. Sometimes the parents are out there with them encouraging them to race and play and other times they're nowhere to be seen. Last summer or the one before was absolute torture. It seemed this place became the skatepark for all the boys within a 2-mile radius. They also stayed out there very late, all taking turns trying to jump off a picnic table with their skateboards. They never made it but continued trying for hours each day for months until the boy who had turned it into the skatepark moved. It sounded like I lived in a lumberlard with the skateboards constantly slamming down on the concrete. Very few of the probems here get truely fixed, especially the laundry facility. For about the past year there have been about 2, 1 or sometimes no working washers for the approximately 50 families here. And the couple that do work are constantly grimy and gross. Plus they cost $1.50. The dryers also have gummy residue inside. If it weren't so conveniently located for me I'd be out in an instant. I don't even pay the rent myself, I live with someone who does, but I'd be more than willing to spend almost all my money on a place of my own if it weren't for the convenience. Allthough only getting a few hours of sleep before work and being angry all the time almost makes it worth it itself. I can almost never relax and feel at home.
