I'll miss this place!

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2006
I have lived here for 3 years and it has been a great experience. Unfortunately, the prices have gotten too high for a single mom and I'll be moving soon. The local elementary school (Walker) is EXCELLENT. The pools are unbelievably cool and there are lots of great places for kids to play--and for parents to hang out in the shade if they're not swimming with the kids. They also have a well-shaded playground and dog park and b-ball/tennis court and a little putting green--all really cool stuff. Some of the units have little fenced in yards. For those who appreciate being surrounded by beauty, the landscaping is full of bright flowers, neat and varied shrubs, and tall swaying grasses. The maintenance staff is awesome. We have curb-side trash pick-up 3 times a week. The apartments have very 'useable' spaces and excellent storage. They are very 'livable' and attractive homes. All the stairwells and walkways are covered--which is wonderful when it's raining, and as a single parent I really appreciate the hallways being lit with lights so bright they would disrupt your sleep patterns if you opened your door at 2:00 am! I feel really safe here! On the down-side, there seems to be a parking shortage, and we are overrun with obnoxiously loud motorcycles...apparently these people like to make numerous trips to and from somewhere in the wee hours of the morning, which makes it hard to get any sleep on the weekends. The gates break frequently, which is a little inconvenient. You can only enter the complex from Eldorado, which can be extremely inconvenient. People from all over town are attracted to the pool like moths to a flame--they sneak in and trash the place and get obnoxiously drunk--but the staff have done a good job recently of chucking out all the trespassers. I've read the other reviews saying that the staff are rude, but they have been exceptionally accommodating and kind to me. They are occasionally hard to contact, but otherwise they're wonderful. My advice is don't judge a book by it's cover! I also advise asking for one of the apartments that does not face the road/driveway--that way you'll get a great view of all the green space here and muffle the motorcycles a bit. This is a great place for people who like to be outside, and for folks who like bright open indoor living spaces. The rating scale does not do justice to this complex, but overall, this place gets an EXCELLENT rating!
