When we first moved in, the security system would not operate when it rained. It turned out after multiple visits by staff and the security provider that the panel wire had been run under the carpet and was laid across carpet tack strips, causing a short when the humidity was high. Ultimately, I was forced to repair the problem myself due to the inability of the security provider to meet their commitment to repair. On a related note, the apartment complex would remote disarm the security system several times annually to make repairs or perform "maintenance checks," after which the system would NOT be rearmed.
Despite repeated expressed concerns to management that the water heater was intermittently not working and making noises, we were told to wait until the water heater actually broke before it would be replaced. This resulted in approx. 400 gallons of water flooding our apartment and the one below it. The folks below had major renovation needs after this incident, and the entire apartment mildewed. One Townecrest refused to give them another apartment without a new lease and move fee, and did not put up the family in a hotel in the meantime, as they had previously promised at the time of the incident. Nor were they compensated for the electricity of four straight days they were told to run the air conditioner continuously to dry the interior.
General repairs took longer than normal to be made, such as a concrete stair step that I nearly fell down the stairs as a result of stepping on, causing it to pitch me forward. Once notified of the issue, One Townecrest put up warning tape, which fell down the next day. After 3 or 4 days, the tape had not been put back up and I taped it back up myself. It took several weeks before the step was repaired.
We also had the dishwasher fail to drain, causing the kitchen to flood with water. One Townecrest took approx. twenty days to replace the dishwasher part (they refused to buy a replacement dishwasher in the interim since they had no spares).
The air conditioner also failed twice when we were in the apartment, and each time took approximately three days to repair despite the fact it occurred in the summer months, causing the apartment temperature to rise to over 84 degrees fahrenheit at night.
