It all started so well, I rented an apartment from some young girl, gave her my deposit and application fee in cash because I had not set up a checking account yet being new to the area. I noticed she put the money in her pocket and said she would give it to her assistant manager later, that she handled all money transactions. She showed me an empty apartment that was filty, the maint. men had not even cleaned the food out of the fridge, but she assured me my apartment would be perfect, she was such a sweet girl. I figured ok, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. We set up my day to move in on a Saturday because she said that Saturdays were the only day "Keith", her maint man would allow move-ins....Maint. men call the shots'....So I left and set up everything for that day (Dec. 13,2003)
I called several times just to be sure we were on track and that everything would be ready for me to pick up the keys....I asked if I could pick them up late Friday so that my movers could get an early start, but, once again, "Keith" did not allow this so I had to wait until 10:00 Saturday.
When I arrived there was no one in sight, I sat in my uhaul until 10:45 until someone finally showed up...Oh I had such a sick feeling....We went over the paperwork, but the lease was not ready so she had to run to the back somewhere and type it up, she increased the rent 30.00 from what was quoted to me, but she had no notes about how much she told me it would be, so she said she would have to talk to her manager on Monday to get her approval and that she wasn't allowed to call her at home...So, I refused to sign it, she said I could wait and sign it Monday when her boss got there so she gave me the keys to my new apartment.(I din't pay the rent either)
I left the office and drove around awhile until I could locate my building, it was so sad because I'd never seen so much trash....
The first time I had looked at the complex several months ago it was so well kept but I guess they must have been short on help'.
Now. is the worst part of all, I put the key in the door and the key wouldn't work, so I had to climb back in my car and go back to the office, but, now the office was closed with a sign that said "be back in 15 minutes",so I waited by this time I was praying harder than I have ever prayed for patience and tolerance, but anyway, she showed up and had to call maint. The powerful "Keith" showed up about 10 minutes later and said he was so sorry, that he had failed to rekey the lock and it would take him just a short time so I ran to 7-11 for a cup of coffee and then back to the apartment to wait in my car as he did the lock change.
I saw that he was just about finished so I grabbed an armload and met him at the door, he turned the key and you would not believe the stinch that came out of that apartment, it had not been touched since the last person lived there. There was dog poo poo all over the carpet, the blinds wre all on the floor, it had not been painted or cleaned or NOTHING!!!! I LOST IT!
I went back to my car, went back to the office and told the girl I WAS NOT MOVING IN AND I WANTED MY MONEY BACK NOW! She told me that that was impossible because once you're approved the deposit is not refundable so she tole me to call her boss on Monday.
I have to stop now because I'm just getting myself all wound up again, but here it is Jan.29,2004 and this still has not been taken care of....I try to call Tanya every day but she will not speak to me, I try to call her boss Ms.McMorran, but she said she stands behind her managers 100%.
Now the only thing left to do is try to talk with the management company....But PLEASE! TELL YOUR READERS THAT THIS IS A HELL HOLE AND NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM GIVE A FLYING FIG. WALDEN IS THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY, WISH ME LUCK...THANKS FOR LISTENING.
