Update: I renewed my lease for another year. The parking lot drama level is WAY down now; I hardly hear anything. The noise level from passing cars seems a little better -- I put up thick curtains, so maybe that's why. We did have a shooting a few months back; now there's a regular security patrol. I still feel safe living here. Management has been cooperative & maintenance staff has been courteous and responsive when I needed more things fixed. A neighbor who seems to know a lot about what goes on says the front of the complex is safer than the back of the complex. In the back, some cars got broken into and there's more fighting & drama. This neighbor also confirms that some other tenants have had terrible problems with bugs, maintenance & management. I read these reviews and am amazed at how night-and-day tenants' experiences are...some great, some horrendous. I'm happy with Springfield and I feel lucky that I've had such a good experience.

I've lived here a year and may move because I need a bigger place. But I'll be content to stay another 6 months or a year if necessary. Now, I live near the front entrance where all the traffic is, so keep that in mind...

My biggest complaint about this complex is the parking lot noise. There's frequently loud, pounding bass coming from cars as they drive in and out. The good thing is that it usually doesn't last long since they're only driving by. But a worse problem than that is the loud, Jerry Springer-type DRAMA that sometimes occurs in the parking lot between 1 and 4 in the morning. I've been woke up too many times by either a loud drunk guy crying and begging his girl not to leave him, or two guys fighting over a girl, or two girls fighting over a guy, etc. There was also a period earlier in 2008 when I heard gun shots (some close by) a few times a week for a few weeks.

I've had some terrific neighbors here, everyone's friendly and says hi, even the ones I hardly know. One nearby apartment can be VERY loud with their TV, music and Guitar Hero game, but they've been nice about turning it down if I ask.

I'm a female and have always felt safe being alone here, even walking through the parking lot late on a Friday or Saturday night.

I haven't had any bug problems or major maintenance issues. The one time I called maintenance to fix a toilet, it was handled promptly.

The quality of the non-upgraded units is okay, a little on the underwhelming side. The one bedroom unit I rent could have been laid out better though. The living room is tiny, and the only bathroom is located inside the bedroom. But the parking is good, plenty of spaces for everyone.

I've had good dealings with management and have no complaints. But I've also heard from tenants who were moving out that management can be harsh, inflexible & unrealistic once you give them notice that you're leaving.
