I lived here 8 horrible months. Forget turning to the leasing office for help -- the staff is rude and incompetent. I had to turn in a 30-day move out notice three times before the staff would release my rental information to the new apartments. I filled out three different forms to let them know I was moving and they still said they didn't get my notice. On top of that, the office staff acted ignorant of basic TAA rules. I started to carry mace because of the renters who would simply loiter around the apartments at all hours of the night. Every 30 minutes someone drives by in their pimp-mobile and gives you a free concert; sometimes, they will even honk repeatedly for their friends -- yes, even at 3am. Expect the music and horn hoking, as well as the stares from the renters who have nothing better to do but harass hard-working people, on a daily basis. Also, they let renters keep HUGE dogs -- even though they state they have a pet policy. On the subject of dogs, be prepared to step in dog feces when walking anywhere around the complex. The renters are so disgusting they don't even pick up after their animals, and the apartment staff does nothing to clean it up! Furthermore, my upstairs neighbor let his dog defecate right on the sidewalk in front of my apartment -- these are the type of neighbors you'll be living with. The renters will also let their dogs run loose, off leash, around the complex and the office does nothing to enforce basic city code violations from their tenants. They have an internet cafe, but will kick you out of the cafe anytime they please and say they have to "close early." There are beer bottles scattered throughout the complex every weekend, and people tend to gather at all hours of the day and night just to "hang out"; I'm talking groups of ten or more men simply getting intoxicated, being loud, and cat calling every woman they see. I paid for damages after moving out, the office cashed the check and then sent me the same bill stating I still owed them -- the staff can't do their jobs unless you help them and tell them what they are supposed to be doing! My bedroom window leaked water and grew mold. Maintenance never fixed it after repeated attempts. Again, you'll have to baby talk the staff through doing their jobs. Expect to smell cooking tortillas, hear blaring music from every direction, and get a crash course in ghetto-ology while staying at 8500 Harwood "Luxury" Apartments.
