Run Away! Don't even think of staying here

I've lived in this apartment for 11 months and thankfully will be moving out in a couple of weeks. Within three weeks of moving in the air conditioning began to leak water.

The air conditioner is located in the ceiling in the bathroom. When it leaks it starts dripping around the edge of the ceiling cover, which is 2' by 3 1/2'. It drips water over the sink the entire floor and the toilet. I put my kitchen garbage can, my bathroom garbage can and several other containers out, but they don't catch all the water. There is at least 5 gallons of water collected (the kitchen garbage can is half to three quarters full) by the time I get home from work or get up in the morning.

The air conditioning starts leaking every 20 to 25 days. It takes them at least 3 days to come up and take a look at it, it often takes 7 days for them to have someone come up to fix it. That works out to one week a month with a puddle on the bathroom floor to constantly wipe up, the cover of always blows open by the second day and dumps more water then hangs open in front of the bathroom light and mirror and its impossible to use the toilet without having water dripping on your head, back and legs. Really, its so much fun I don't know why I'm even considering moving.

In August and September of last year when the tempature was over 110 degrees, the air conditioning would not cool below 90 degrees. I called consistently to have them fix it, it was over 2 1/2 months before it was actually cooling the apartment.

I was happy when winter arrived, believing that most of my problems would be over until the spring. Much to my surprise just after Thanksgiving there was no longer any hot water in the building. It flexuated from tepid to cold. This was not resolved until mid January. I would literally wrap in a blanket after taking a shower or was reduced to sponge baths when the water was too cold to use. I heated water in the kitchen to wash my hair.

The people in the office will either very nicely tell you they will help and "make sure someone will be out to fix that today" which is a lie, because noone shows up that day or the next or the next and you end up calling repeatedly without any resolution taking place. Or, my personal favorites, the people in the office who treat you with utter contempt for daring to approach them with a problem. They all know that the air conditioning is horrific but will treat you like you're the problem.

I have a friend who also had an apartment here who had a problem with the heating. When she turned the heater on (this is any tempature above 50 degrees) it would melt some fuse and heat up to 110 degrees and not shut off. They refused to repair it and wouldn't move her to another apartment.

They do not put any money into maintaining these apartments. This is a miserable place to live - don't ever consider renting here.

I lived here in 2006. I agree with you whole-heartedly. I had mold/mildew growing in the 2nd bathroom due to the ac leak and constant standing water at the window. I've had my money orders for rent/water stolen right out of the office by someone in the office. I had evidence of an attempted break in the back door with no light. I was told the same thing. I wrote in to the corporate office with all proof and pics and they let me out of my lease early. I was so happy to get out of there! LEASE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

You couldn't have said it better! These exact same problems happened to us but the employees are useless and the property management is worse!
