BEWARE! Don't ever try to get out of a lease!

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
THE INDIVIDUAL APARTMENTS:
Very nice and clean. One of the nicest in NRH. Tall cielings, new white-on-white appliances, great carpeting, nice floorplans.
THE LEASING:
We paid our entire first lease upfront. When it came time to sign a new one, we signed....unfortunately. Due to a series of unexpected events, we could not find new employment and therefore could not pay the first month of the new lease's rent. We tried to ask them to give us time b/c of our situation, but they did not care.
Not even two weeks after the rent was due, they sent us an eviction notice. So, there we were, we'd only just signed the new lease a week and a half before, and they were ready to kick us out and hold us to owing them a butt-load of money.
The paper that was signed with the lease had said that if we ever broke the lease we'd owe a little over a thousand dollars. After we left (before we were officially thrown out) we were informed by the next people we tried to sign a lease with that Silver Creek claimed we owed them over $4,000!!!
THE STAFF:
Make sure you get a copy of ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING YOU SIGN immediately, or else they will claim you owe more than you do.
Another thing, never take their word for anything. We had the leasing agent tell use since we paid upfront, our water bill was taken care of and paid upfront (included in our total). When we went to sign a new lease, about 2 weeks before, we receieved a notice saying we owed over $200 in unpaid water bills.
When we informed them of what the agent had told us when we first moved in, they denied it and were unyielding (especially since that girl had left the company a few months before).
Basically they are uncaring and unwilling to work with you no matter what your situation.
THE SAFETY:
To be honest, I THOUGHT we were safe.....until we recieved a note about an assault having taken place. Also, after we left....I heard about other assaults, car break-ins, fights, and other such vandalism and crimes including shootings. The place looks safe, and is in a safe part of town, but the always open and/or broken gate allows anyone in. Several times we witnessed street racer/gang types driving in and hanging out in the parking lots. Anyone can get the code and you get solicitations at your door. It may look safe, but from what Ive heard and seen, it is not as it seems.
THE AMMENITIES:
The pool looks great, and was at first, but towards the end of our stay, they never cleaned it....they would allow parties on the weekends and the following week, anyone who wished to swim during the week were screwed b/c it was filthy and should have been cleaned the Monday following the weekend trash bashes.
The workout center started out great, but quickly went downhill as well. Each workout room (there's only 2) has about 6 machines, half of which are broken.
OVERALL:
The staff doesn't care, the grounds and ammenities deteriorated within only 7 months, and the safety is questionable. The only good thing this place has going for it is the niceness of the individual apartments themselves, though, Im not sure how much worth it it is to pay so much but question your safety and never have office workers to rely on.
