I totally understand what you're going through. I lived there from Jan '03 - Sept '04. I had numerous things happen to me that were very aggrevating. Management is very rude, mean, and unfair. They will screw you over any chance they get! The first apt I lived in, which was the Chelsea, was a decent apt. The walls were thin and shook every time my neighbor downstairs slammed his front door, but other than that, I had no huge maintenance issues. The apt was clean and was not worn. I did have a huge issue with ants! I couldn't keep anything in the cabinets in the kitchen or bathroom! I had to keep everything in sealed containers and/or the fridge. The office claimed that no one had ever complained of ants before and gave me baits to set out. It didn't help, I had to treat my apartment with Raid quite frequently to keep them out of site. The parking was a nightmare. There were not enough spaces for residents. Visitors would take all the available open spaces and leave no room for residents. Once, I parked in a "reserved" space that was vacant. The office had my car towed without even contacting me. I had to find a friend to take me all the way to some white trash impound lot in Wylie. It cost me $200 to get it out. I blew up in the office and they were very rude to me. I still feel like getting even with them. Eventually, I decided to move to a townhouse with a garage on the other side of the property. I only lived in it for 3 weeks. The day after I moved in, I started seeing roaches! Big ones, little ones, you name it! It was so disgusting. I complained to the office and the --- manager at the time told me that he has never heard of anyone at the complex having a roach problem. Somehow, I find that hard to believe. The way they were coming out of the woodwork in my townhouse, it was apparant that it was infested!!! I was willing to move at the any cost, however, something amazing was brought to my attention by management... They called saying that I had forgotten to sign my lease. I had only initialed the first page. I never signed the page which makes it legal and binding. It was a miracle and I was able to get the heck out of there asap with no penalty! I quickly found another apartment and got out of there. I did have some trouble getting my deposit back, but after calling headqtrs and the leasing office everyday for about 6 months, I finally got it out of them. But, not before much lying and deceptive behavior. They would claim that they mailed it on this day or that day, but I wouldn't get it.. I finally got my money. I can't remember the name of the leasing agent when I was there, but she was one rude little -----! Luckily, she was dumber than dirt and failed to have me sign my lease. That saved me from the roaches!
