Not terrible, not the most awesome

My family and I have lived at Ashley Park for nearly a year. I have to say that overall we've been happy here. Maybe I don't get out much, but I've not seen any shady looking people walking around. On the contrary, I see lots of children playing and people walking their dogs. I have once seen a man with a pitbull not on a leash; pretty scary, but I only saw it that once.
My husband and I do joke about the quality of the place quite often, though. Our appliances date back to the 80s, the floor in the upstairs bedroom squeaks, and our laundry "room" is made for a stackable unit. We were assured by mgmnt that we could fit our full size units in, but it took a trip to Home Depot and plenty of rigging to get it to fit and work, although I cannot open my dryer door all the way. The laundry closet door doesn't open all the way because the refrigerator sticks out too much and one of the kitchen cabinet doors is stopped from opening all the way because of the lighting fixture on the ceiling.
We were also told upon move in that they didn't have anymore remotes for the gate but they were looking to get some. When we asked for one a couple of months later we did get one. However, the gates have been broken three or four times since we've been here.
All this said, it's a good community. Quiet for the most part and much much better than the other complexes in the area. While we do balk at paying anymore than we are for the problems we do have, it's been a pleasant experience living at Ashley Park. Our home is cute, bright and cheerful and we feel safe. Management often has community get togethers (halloween party where the kids got to do art projects, flower planting party, health seminar, etc) and they know who we are without us having to tell them when we pick up packages from the office.
If our rent doesn't go up too terribly much we'll probably stay another year. Hopefully our microwave will break, though, so they'll have to give us a new one.
