I've been in the Ashley Park Townhomes for nearly two years now. I've seen three management companies, and a myriad of maintenance people come through, with no change (except for some exterior painting). The community areas are always well kept in regards to landscaping, but the pool area and the actual apartments could really use more work. We have had a slew of plumbing problems, most of which have generated a RESPONSE within 24 hrs. If response time were the only factor, I would be quite satisfied with the service. However, several of the problems have taken three or more calls for the same problem after maintenance had "fixed" the problem. Several times I gave very explicit directions for what needed fixed, and was treated like I either hadn't said anything at all or I didn't know what I was talking about. The bathroom sink has leaked nearly the entire time I've lived here, and it's been "fixed" three times already, once only two weeks ago, and it's leaking again. The shower will not divert water correctly from the tub to the shower head. The toilet, well, I can't even begin to list every service call for its comedy of errors. The hot water heater went bad (it was the original from 1980), and was replaced with a sub-par unit which has a very small tank. The heater is poor, taking often 30 minutes or more before even beginning to blow warm air in the winter (the fan runs moving cold air through the ducts and the house most of the time, when it's supposed to be heating up). A maintenance call on the heater was completely glossed over. Weather stripping has been applied to our front door twice, after we complained that the door (which appears to have been kicked in before, and rehung) leaked cold air in the winter, and hot in the summer, now with the double layer of weather stripping you can barely lock the bolts. The staff seems courteous most of the time, but rarely act in a professional manner when it comes to resolving issues. "We'll be out." "We'll get it looked at." "We'll get it taken care of." I'm still waiting on too many things.
Oh, and the pool. There is a hot tub which has been boarded up and inoperable the entire time we have lived here. The pool has sharp gravel around it and at the bottom, necessitating pool shoes or flip-flops all the time. I have seen a few too many dead things floating in the pool to make me want to swim in there. That didn't used to be so when the first management company was there. It at least used to be clean. Also, major issue, there is fencing and gates that are "child proof" around the pool, but small children can still get UNDER the fence in several places. I've seen them do it w/o adult supervision. I'm waiting for the whole place to get shut down with one drowning. This and the multitude of police calls on a regular basis (several of which were for a maintenance crew member) are the reasons for my poor safety rating.
