I'm very pleased I found this place!

This is a great, small complex tucked in a cul-de-sac.
Top 5 things I like about living here:
* Management: Makes an effort to be accommodating, good communication, and - to put it simply - deals "on the level" with tenants. Sure, there are rules, but there is not a conflictual dynamic to tenant|management relations.
* Space-Efficiency: There are 4 floor plans, and I can at least affirm that my floor plan allows for maximum utilization of space. One of my best-friends would guess my apartment is larger than it actually is. It has ample cabinets & closets, and the layout is functional. All units have a storage unit, patio, and in-unit laundry.
* Community culture: In general, it is a combination of neighborliness & "live and let live." This could change, but a relatively low turnover rate helps maintain it.
* Location: It's near a lot of stores, but its tucked in a residential area, and so isn't right in the "thick" of things. You get convenience without the noise. Also, there are apartments in downtown Plano that boast of an on-site caf . While we don't have one on campus, or quite as close as the Starbucks to the apartments at the "Shops at Legacy", the "Java & Cha" caf is either a short walk, or a drive made without encountering lights there or back.
* Maintenance: I haven't had to have much maintenance done. The friendly maintenance person lives on-site, and I've seen him promptly replacing appliances and/or performing repairs for neighbors.
Lastly, I made my star votes based on the description that appears when you hover over a star, but I would give Aspen Court 5 stars for all the categories in terms of meeting my expectations. I think that's an important distinction.
For example, a Apartmentratings.com post said there is "no recreation." We DO have a pool, which IS maintained. I suspect the comment's author had in mind something along the lines of an on-site gym or activity court (i.e. raquetball). We don't have these facilities, but nor do we have to pay for them.
Another example is that 5-stars on "grounds" is described as a "thing of beauty." I think that's a bit grandiose if you're not paying 4 figures a month for a one-bedroom, but "attractive and well-kept" (4-stars) is accurate, and I would award Aspen Court 5 stars at meeting that goal.
