Don't do it!

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I moved here over two years ago at the recommendation of friends, and at that time, things were fine--I did, after all, move from Mesquite, so things can always be worse. Nonetheless, when I moved in, during my walkthrough I reported things that were damaged, so I wouldn't be fined--namely, flooring. Two years later, I haven't seen a maintenance person yet regarding the issue. I finally decided to repair the tiles myself.
Anything that has needed doing, I would rather do myself, since the maintenace staff is creepy as hell and I don't want to end up murdered like that one guy. But a while back I had a flooding issue and so maintenance HAD to oblige, but has yet to be back to clean up the huge mess they left.
I absolutely don't consider myself a needy resident at all, but it's nice to have lighting when you enter and exit your apartment at night, not have residents that move in and out every three months or so, and don't have murders (in WEST PLANO!!) and ENTIRE RIMS BEING STOLEN OFF OF A CAR. When I moved in, the complex was nice. It seems as if they might have lowered their standards since then.
Every month we are responsible for our water/waste water bill, which I think is just plain made up and an additional way to tack on an extra $16 or $17 in rent. My electric bill for a one bedroom is way way way over $100 a month. LAME.
I do appreciate the courtesy patrol, after having to call them at 2a a few nights in a row for drunken parties going on outside my window, and the one time I locked myself out of my apartment at about 10p at night--the guy came and unlocked my door without even looking at an ID. Now that's service!
