An honest review: look elsewhere

I moved here in mid 2007 when the apartments were managed by Greystar. The apartments were nice then and the manager was always available and friendly. This new management/staff that has taken over has definitely made the living experience miserable.
Previous posters are correct when they say it is impossible to get a hold of the manager, ------ ----. Honestly, it seems that the reason more people are posting here is because it is the only way to get a response from her. But am I the only one who thinks her responses are completely rude and downright unprofessional' These are real tenants with real concerns and she acts like some defensive teenager who only cares about being right. Good management plays a huge role in your apartment experience and I say, as long as ------ ---- is the manager here, you should save yourself the headache and rent somewhere else (a suggestion is below).
It is understandable that things happen that are unpleasant (the roofs, gates, mailboxes), but it is not unreasonable to expect things be fixed in a timely manner. The gate issue is beyond annoying at this point. To respond to the manager's responses, Yes, I would prefer the gates be closed and have to go to the front when a visitor came over. As long as I could get in, who cares about the visitors. We can let them in on our own. At least this would be progress. And it is not okay to belittle the mail issue, people need their mail!!!
Also, I believe that random people using the pool is a big issue. I've talked to people there that don't live here and they all know and spread around the word that it is easy to hang out at our pool. This can be dangerous but mostly inconvenient since we are paying for amenities that are too crowded to use. I've visited other apartment complexes and those that are actually gated (like ours are supposed to be) do not have this problem. Some that are not gated have instituted pool passes, a small card that can be put on your keys. A courtesy officer randomly walks around the pool and you flash your pool pass. Something to think about.
Settler's Gate is an apartment complex down Mcdermott (towards 75, a few minutes from this place). I would strongly suggest looking there. I know people who have lived here and now live there. They are much happier, even though the quality of the apartments/amenities are basically the same. Management makes a HUGE difference. Just read their reviews on this site. When the new manager took over, all reviews turned positive and stated how great the change was. These apartments are exactly the opposite.

No. You are NOT the only one. Our last straw was the shootings in the front parking lot. Worse than the actual incident was Ms ----'s response and attitude.

I agree with you on the pool situation. I have never lived at an apartment complex that lets SO MANY PEOPLE use the pool that don't live here at Bella Vida. I enjoy going to the pool but it is for the people who live here and pay rent. The worse part about this is that you have people who don't live here using the pool on HOLIDAYS and coming to the ANNUAL POOL PARTY!!! That is just not right! I know people who live at Settler's Gate that come to our pool to play volleyball.

Wow! There is a lot of hostility towards the management company that seems like it needs to be addressed. First why don't you start by talking to them. It has worked for me. Second, grow up a little bit and quit making snide remarks about the complex. The management company has set up a town meeting forum at the office on scheduled nights for you to voice your opinion. There needs to be a basis for you to go off the handle. The shooting was a random thing that happened becuase people pulled into the front entrance area. THEY DIDN'T EVEN LIVE HERE. The gates were broken when the gaurd tower was HIT BY A CAR. There are permits and regulations that must be taken to ensure that they property doesn't get into trouble. I don't work at Bella Vida but I'm so sick of everyone bashing the staff at the front. They do a great job and all you who "complain" need to "man up" and go talk to them in person.

bstewart25: "WOW" it certainly seems like you work for Bella Vida. If you look at all of the reviews with your replies and even your recent review "Management" it all sort of adds up now doesn't it? HOW MUCH ARE THEY PAYING YOU? HOW STUPID DO YOU THINK WE ARE?
