So so, a starter place

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005
We have been living in the Brentdale for almost a year. During this time we have had a broken leaking icemaker, broken Air conditioner (of course during the hottest part of the summerit also took a week to fix), and a growing water spot in out ceiling. All this was to be expected due to the age of the apartment. What really bothers me is the quality of the apartments. The new owners have tried to breath life back into the buildings with cosmetic changes, yet these are only skin deep. The property is over 20 years old and many of the appliances reflect this. If you use a cable provider like Comcast you will have to have the old cable hookups with the A and B switches. For those of you that are too young to know what this is it is a switch that has half of your channels on A and the rest on B you have to get up and press the switches to change channels between the two settingsit is a pain in the butt. Our refrigerator works very well but is missing a shelf and the lining is cracking. Our oven only cooks if you set it above 350 degrees Fahrenheit, so no slow cooking, it also has to be set 20 degrees hotter than needed to be at the right temperature. Our dishwasher is old and does not get dishes clean unless they are almost spotless going in. We did get new cabinets when we moved in, but they are poorly constructed and not all that straight. The shower works well if you do not need a lot of water pressure or a steady temp. We do have a great amount of hot water, that is one plus. The plumbing is noisy; you can hear the pipes screech when neighboring apartment turns their water on. We did receive a free washer and dryer with move in, this has been wonderful, and they were brand new and work fabulously. My main problem with the apartment is that no matter how much I clean out apartment it is still dirty. There is old hair in the paint on the walls, floors are stained, the oven is surrounded by grim that others have left (no way of cleaning is short of pulling out the oven and unplugging it) and the carpet has a texture of a well-loved stuffed animal. In short the whole place needs a renovation from top to bottom. It is a good place if you are just starting out. An important question to ask before moving in is do you want quality of the apartment to be good or do you want the quantity of room and price to be more important.
