This place is the WORST, and I've moved around countless apartments all my life! I moved here expecting to downgrade from a 3-story luxury, hoping to save some money and pay off some debt. I have saved some money, but it has NOT been worth the downgrade!!
In our 3rd month here, we've experienced 3 big cockroaches (one in each bathroom, another strolling out from the laundry room into the dining room)! These are the big red ones, which I've been told are 'water bugs', but I've never had them before, so they're disgusting no matter what they're here for. Plus, I'm on the 3rd floor, so they came a long way up just to hang out around our water sources...which tells me they're infested.
I am extremely organized and borderline OCD clean, and I've never had roaches before, so I KNOW it's not our cleanliness that has attracted these 'water bugs'! This place is really gross, with old, dirty appliances and cheap doors and cabinets that stick when you open them...meaning they've just been painted over and over again, to hide who knows what underneath. It even smells old and musty here, no matter what I spray or burn or cook!
My baby has to wear pants when she's crawling around, otherwise the cheap carpet irritates her knees, which are still healing from the random times she crawls away in a dress or something. I've never even heard of this happening to babies, and it's not like she has super sensitive skin or anything. I'd actually noticed the difference when we first moved in, and it actually hurt my feet to walk barefoot, so I have to wear socks on this crap...and I don't have sensitive skin either!
The A/C must be ancient...it breaks down all the time, and we keep it at about 75-degrees, average. When I requested that maintenance come to fix it, they came in while we were out. When we returned after a few hours, the door wasn't even closed, much less locked Without even pressing the key into the lock, the door just swung right open!
Finally, we recently opened up a vent cover in the living room, to investigate why we were all coughing, only to find MOLD worse than I've EVER seen! The vent shafts must NEVER be cleaned, as they were covered at least 2 inches thick with dust!!
Save your money on carpooling or not eating out so much...NOT by moving here for cheaper rent! IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!

This is pretty much the same experience we had with the Brentdale.
The occasional roach every month... not to mention the other kinds of creepy crawlies (thanks to the half-assed job the maintenance guy did sealing our warped front doorway and rickety front door), dust and mold ridden ac unit and ancient appliances.
We came here from another state (unable to see the apartment in person, or with the money to stay at a hotel until we found the right complex, mind you) with the faith in PAULA ST-LAURENT'S honestly, and that she wouldn't put us in a piece of ---- apartment like she did. Not only was this apartment a bait and switch (they upped the monthly rent 70 or so bucks from the website, isn't that nice?), PAULA ST-LAURENT assured us we would be "set back" from the traffic, which was a lie. We're right next to a street with constant traffic/noise pollution. Haha, they never fix what they say they will either. We BROUGHT IN A LIST of things that needed to be fixed (a month ago) and they have yet to bring in their handyman. The staff is all smiles at the office, in front of the other customers, and then completely try to ---- you over when it's just a dialog between you and them in private.
Our deck is made of rotten wood, everything in this godforsaken excuse for architecture is warped and it's only a 23 year old building... It's strange too because I have lived in buildings that were either pounded by almost constant rain 75% of the year, made 60, 70 and 100 years ago, and buildings that were hit with annual earthquakes... and the integrity of those buildings did not (and probably still have not) degraded to the point of this building. Oh, a nice little surprise I found last time I rained hard: the tacky cottage cheese walls above the window leak! (That never got fixed, either.)
Good lord, this place is a joke.
Please, someone sue them for being Grade A -------s.
