My previous review of the Brentdale apts was a favorable one. All I can say is that I had not yet been here long enough. I had only been in the apt for a little over a month. Now after 5 months my opinions on this complex have changed drastically. A couple months after we moved in the staff aparently had to lower their rental standards as there were too many vacant apartments. We have had issues with a couple of the new residents, submitted our complaints to management and were told "tough luck." One issue in particular has to do with an 2 bedroom apartment with 9 men living in it. Not a single one of them is on the lease, in fact a womans name is on it (they are all men)and yes...this is accurate info, one of the managers gave me this information. We have had many problems with these men. They take up 15 parking spaces for that one apartement, some with non-running cars, some with cars parked across multiple spots, needless to say parking is becoming an issue. They harrass the women in the building and they seem to enjoy relieving themselves in the middle of the parking lot while drinking and making noise until all hours. There is a heavy marijuana smell eminating from their apartment most of the time as well. When we took all our complaints to management we were told that yes it was in fact suspected that these men were illegal immigrants and that because managment was afraid of any political backlash no action was going to be taken at all about our complaints, or the fact that these men should not be living in the apartment, or the fact that there are only supposed to be 2 people per bedroom. As if all that is not detterrent enough there are many other things wrong with the apartment complex. The a/c units do not cool very well at all. On a 90 degree day your lucky if you can keep your apartment at 85 degrees with the a/c on all day. Managment will send maitenance out to look at it, and tell you there is nothing wrong with it. There are holes in the floor under the carpet on the 2nd and 3rd story apartments, we suspect it is dry rot. In some spots it feels like there is nothing but carpet holding you up. I am afraid one of these days I will put my foot through one of the holes. Every other resident I have talked to has had nothing but problems with this complex and many of my neighbors are counting the days until their lease is up. I am at the moment trying to find a way out of mine. The city inspector told me dry rot is a lease killer so I am hoping I can get an inspection soon. Wish me luck. I only recommend you lease from the Brentdale if you are fond on living under a slum lord.
