Painful to deal with the office

Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2000
 
We paid off everything upon moving out, but a few months later, I got a surprise call from a collecting agent!!!

I called the office stuff who said that they misplaced lots of the renting records, and that they'd call me back. They never called me back.

I figure the apartment just sent our record to the collecting agent without even care to make sure if we had any outstanding balance, and of course without first communicating with us about it.

Who'd like to be treated like that'
