Pros and Cons from a current resident

We are currently looking to move since we just received a notice that our rent is going up $60 a month. This really upsets me. Obviously, hanging onto good long-time residents is not a priority for CWS, the company that manages Brooks on Preston. We have never received any incentive to renew our lease here, and raising the rent this much is just an insult.

For those of you looking into moving here, here are some pros and cons for you from a longtime resident.
Pros: Depending on what floor plan you have, the bedroom/bathroom/closet can be very large and spacious. The noise levels aren't too bad unless you have an inconsiderate neighbor or you live near the pool. The brook views are great. We have ducks, herons, and lots of other birds. It is like a little oasis in the city. The grounds are very well-maintained, and the landscaping always looks nice. The curb-side trash pickup is a really nice feature. Also, the staff are always friendly, and maintenance is always quick to respond to requests.
Cons:The office staff turnover rate is ridiculous. Apparently, CWS is not a very good company to work for. In my four years here, I have seen more community directors and leasing agents than I can remember. It is a shame. Just when you get to know someone in the office, they are gone. Also, the office staff do not seem to take noise complaints very seriously. Another diappointment is the access gates. They are always broken. Twice while we have lived here, we have been told the gates were going to be improved. That has never happened. Also, the parking here is quite insufficient. If you can't find a parking space, and you are forced to park along a fire lane, you will be towed. The windows and doors in the apartments are large which is nice, but they are horribly insulated. We can always feel the draft from outside during the winter.
Hopefully, these comments will help future residents decide whether this is the property for them. For the most part, we have liked living here. We just feel we can get something newer or with better amentities for the price we will be paying if we renew our lease again.
