Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2003

Where do I begin' I moved into The Domaine in May of 2000. Very nice the first year we were there..good maintenance, breakfast every morning, massages, etc. Management must have changed 4 or 5 times after that first year. Cut out all of the things above that attracted us there to begin with. Hot tub stays broken, gym equipment stays broken, electronic security gates were always broken.

One day I saw lots of broken glass in the apartment across from me. We called to report the broken glass. Later we find out from another neighbor that the tenants shot up the place, shot the fire water sprinklers out of the ceiling, kicked in walls, busted out all of the windows, flooded the whole apartment and the one below it. Never heard a word from the office. Always had police there for some disturbance or another.

Well, I kept renewing my lease because I hate moving and planning on buying a home soon. The last time my lease came up for renewal, the girl up front tried to get me to sign a 13 month lease. I told her that I planned on buying a home within 6-8 months, so I only wanted a 6 month lease. They said I should go ahead and sign the 13 month lease, so I could get the concessions...lower my rent some, and that as long as I gave a 60 day written notice, I could get out of my lease with no problems.

I did what they suggested. BIG MISTAKE!!! I dropped off my 60 day written notice with my rent. Never heard squat from them...until I was ready to move out. They said they never got my letter...but somehow got my rent check. (by the way...I was NEVER late with my rent the whole time..over 3 years) I moved out anyway and purchased a home, and now I get a bill from them for over $9,000 for breaking my lease. Now a collection agency is calling wanting me to pay up or it will go on my credit report. This is the thanks I get for being a good tenant for over 3 years, and taking them at their word. I would not recommend this complex if it was the last place on earth. Better not sign ANYTHING there without reading the fine print.
