Before signing...hire an attorney

New to Texas' Learn all about the TAA (Texas Apartment Association) and the leasing laws. You might end up knowing more about it than the staff.
Staff is very superficial and rude. Maintenace is unresponsive and A/C thermostats are horribly inaccurate.
Found out 4 months after signing a 13 mo. lease that the complex is across the street from the EDS power plant. In April an explosion occurred at the power plant hurling three HUGE fireballs towards the street starting a grass fire. Nice view of a power line tower from our front door!
Gave a 60 day notice when we decided power line towers, explosions, power plants and continously broken security gates were no longer safe for our family. We bought a house instead. Staff took notice very personal! It's not like I was going their competitor. Started dealing with Greystar management, two weeks before our move out were served with a "Notice to Vacate" for monies we didn't even owe yet. Had to hired an attorney to stop the harrassment and work out a early lease termination.
Word to the wise, breaking a TAA lease can cost you thousands of dollars (upward to $12K), so be careful what you sign, wherever you go!
