DO expect to have a lot of noise day and night from the bordering streets (CONSTANT FIRE TRUCKS, AMBULANCES, and POLICE CARS!!!!!!), unpredictable false fire alarms (once at 2AM--NO REASON (the other reviewer is wrong, lightning did not do it; it was not raining that night), and echoing, noisy halls. You hear EVERYONE in the halls, even if they are trying to be quiet.
DONT expect to have a dark apartment or bedroom at night. Streetlamps and other outside lights will keep you up all night.
DONT expect anyone to pick up your trash for you; you have to take to a (single) trash chute in the parking garage.
DO expect good security; I must admit, the gates are in constant working order.
DO expect a multitude of irritating inconveniences. I was one of the first phase II residents and had no phone, cable, or DSL for nearly a month.
DO expect to pay a lot of rent. I was paying almost $150 a month more than comparable properties in the area were charging for no major added benefits.
DO expect a few nice amenities such as a parking garage and the nearby DART rail station.
I did not like living at Eastside Village. I came to a realization to pay that much to live in such an unspectacular area was a waste. There is no question that the apartments are beautiful on the outside and they have decent build quality (except for the mismatched knobs on my kitchen faucet and the air vent in my bathroom that doesnt work), but the noisy, thinwalled, and grossly overpriced apartments are far from a good value. I would strongly recommend looking a little further west in plano to the nicer neighborhoods and the lower prices (SPECIALS IN THE WEST PLANO AREA ARE AWESOME RIGHT NOW!!!!).
