I moved in initially to a two bedroom apartment in Phase I (the older phase.) It was very spacious.
I had a HUGE bathroom and closet which when added together, was just as big, if not bigger, than my actual bedroom.
My washer overflowed on one occassion (wrong detergent) and maintanence came within thirty minutes.
However, after about four months of living there, the management started getting nit picky with things.
My roommate wrote his half of the (overpriced, yet we thought it was worth it at the time) rent for one dollar shorter than it was, and we were hit with the sixty dollar late fee.
The only other complaint from that apartment was living right off of the street the fire station is located on.
You'll grow accustomed to being woken up by sirens early in the morning.
This past week, I moved into a one bedroom apartment in Phase II (the newer phase.) It's a lot smaller than expected and with it being $800, I'm not sure it's worth it.
The kitchen has no pantry, however it has an island extension, so I now put my dishes under it, and my food in the kitchen shelving.
I like that the windows have awnings over them, but the "balcony" does not suffice as a balcony.
The bathroom is nowhere near as big as my old one, nor is the closet.
All in all, your experience depends on the apartment you get.
I prefer the two bedroom in Phase I, yet my wallet didn't prefer the $1200 price tag.
The people who live in Eastside are really great people that you should get to know.
Get on the good side with the management.
Angel is such a sweetheart and will help you out with whatever you need.
Ask for her to show you around.
Paula is also a doll, and will offer to help you even when she knows you don't need it.
Management makes it a point to have a bi-monthly resident get together at one of the local restaurants or pubs.
Go to them! If not to meet some wonderful people, then to take advantage of some free or discounted food or drinks.
Also- it is now a requirement to show proof of renter's insurance before moving in.
Good or bad thing' That one's up to you.
;)
I would recommend Eastside Village as a good place to live.
Not for a long time, but it's a nice transition place until one can salvage enough money for those nice townhomes down the street....
;)

Phase 2 layouts are terrible. But in phase 1 everything is out dated. I moved from a 2 bedroom in phase 1 to a 1 bedroom in phase 2. Phase 2 looks WAY nice but you lose so much space the way it is laid out.
