Highwood Apartments

About to be ex- tenant From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 4/2/2005 Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005   I have to agree with the previous poster (3-5-05) with regards to "where you live determines how you feel about these apartments." This apartment complex was absolutely great when my roommate and I first moved in back in may of 2003. Since then, things have gotten much worse. This property has most likely taken on Section 8 housing in the last several months as the quality of people that have been moving in recently are questionable. In the last 3 weeks alone, I have seen neighbors arrested and also some ordeal at 2am involving a firetruck, ambulance and police. When they first showed up, about 8 people from the buildings across the way literally ran as fast as they could to their cars and peeled out and drove off at a very fast rate. If you feel secure about that, then congradulations for completing your recent jail time. Our neighbors consistantly leave beer bottles (often broken) on the grass, in the bushes, and on the pavement. Maintenance surely has to notice this and I would imagine is tired of cleaning it up by now. The only positive about this place is that it is accessible to just about everything with only minimal traffic. About 7 minutes to get to George Bush turnpike, 10 to the Dallas tollway, Studio Movie Grill is around the corner, Cinemark theatre is 5 minutes, Tom Thumb and Krogers on opposite sides of the street, and there are restaurants of every kind within 10 minutes, including my favorite, Osaka Sushi. I would recommend not moving in unless you can get in on the 'quiet' side where things are a bit more stable and secure. My only concern would be for how much longer its like that.
