My husband and I moved to Highwood in April 08. We live in a 2 bedroom, and they are both good sized rooms with LARGE closets. In fact the closet in the master was the selling point for me! The inside of the apartments are very nice, new floors, appliances and counter tops. Also, the walls are not white, they are a light tan so it isn't sterile. The drive up appeal for the apartments is not the best, but the inside makes up for that.
The community is good, a lot of young couples and families. We have met a few neighbors and it seems to be a good mix of friendliness while at the same time not being "in your business". We live on the first floor so of course hear the upstairs neighbors from time to time....but its an apartment, that's part of it.
There are quite a few "dog stations" with bags around, which I like. Although a LOT of tenants don't use the bags so the dog area is like a minefield!
Maintenance is VERY prompt!!! And they are always nice and professional. We have had a few minor issues, and they have all been taken care of within 24 hours. We got our first electric bill and it was MUCH higher than I expected so we called and the maintenance guy came out and put more freon in the air conditioner and checked the filter.
If I had to pick something I don't like, it would be the lack of supervision in the pool....not that it's the apartment's fault! But most of the time when I go swimming there are a lot of kids, with no parents (even though it is clearly stated they have to have one with them at all times) running around like crazy.
We really like Highwood so far, and have been happy here.
