Don't rent here - Bad management

Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2002
We were informed in writing that a sex offender living in the complex and that they have asked that person to move out. But, there was no follow up on that. How come they let someone like that live in the complex in the first place, once they found out and asked that person to move out, how come they did not let us know the danger is no longer there' We have a dog and often, when I am out of town my wife walks the dog in the morning and at night, so safety was a big concert for us.
We moved into this apartment a few years ago. There have been several changes in management and apartment ownership. When we decided to move out at the end of December 2002, they did not know how much our security deposit or pet deposit was. They asked us to pay for changing the carpet ?since we did not live in the apartment for 5 years and the life of a carpet is 5 years? - initial charge for that over $600. This is the first apartment I lived in where they wanted the person moving out to pay and absorb the fee for changing the carpet!! Keep all your cancelled checks if you are planning to move out from there.
The apartment size, size, capacity and efficiency of washer dryer is a nightmare as stated by other people. The whirlpool area has always been broken and in unrepared. The fitness room has VERY old, parts missing equipment? I can go on. But, the number one issue is bad management? Overall --> AVOID.
