We are happy to move out of La Costa. Stayed here 2 yrs and it went from ok to worse.

They have started taking in noisy renters and lowering standards. We did not renew our lease primarily because it felt unsafe and disturbing in our building. Lots of party makers had moved in and we can hear women screeching at 3 am and drunken brawls, people running and thumping upstairs. There was noise 24x7 anyway. Hardly a family env. We had to tell people not to park in front on our garage late at night. It's scary to approach such an unstable crowd of ppl. If they are high or in a rage, they might hurt you. We complained to mmgt often, but they pass the buck by mentioning a "peace officer". The mmgt here gives u the runaround, they neither talk to the noisy residents they rented nor contact their "peace officer". It's DIY if u need to deal with noisy neighbors.

This complex has a tropical rainforest to maintain. the cost of watering so much greenery and then getting landscapers to maintain it is passed onto renters. Even if you have been away for a month, u will get a $30 water bill for water u did not use. And in the daytime, the landscapers generate enough noise to make it irritating to live on 1st floor. There is simply too much landscaping needed ( and even then your front door, balcony and garage are often piled up with leaves).

Repairs when they happen are usually good, but to get attention to a repair may take repeated reminders and several weeks before anything is attended to. Until the ceiling develops a leak or something, anything else will take it's own sweet time. At night, strangers who do not live here, park under dark corners and stay in their cars. It's anyone's guess as to what goes on. I had to write a scathing review on this board to get a floodlight outside our building fixed after complaining for 3 weeks. I deleted the review after they fixed it.

From day 1, the unit I stayed in had very poor carpet quality (new carpet but very rough and coming off the edges where the floor met the walls), extremely loose power outlets/sockets (not a single one could hold a power plug), and bathroom fittings that just came off without even touching. We did not complain about small things, but it added up to our frustration.

In a nutshell, if u have options and can pay a little more, don't stay here.

Lastly, If you are reading this, there is no need to pay attention to a canned reply from the manager. She should spend more time getting her and her team's act together rather than treating just the symptoms.

Anyone defending the mmgt obviously belongs to the mmgt. Self praise posted in the guise of a resident within minutes of manager's canned copy-pasted reply.

I live at LaCosta, for one year, and this complaint seems a little over the top. Water bills for us are not out of order. Also, it is very quiet. Of course, it depends, I guess, on what building you live in. Also, management has been responsive when you approach them in a reasonable manner. They have a convenient online way to pay rent; and they also take maintenance requests online as well as in person. This is not a mansion, but for an apartment complex not so bad. It's hard to determine sometimes, when a person is angry, exactly how much of the complaint is really warranted. With that said, I think we have to listen to everyones opinions. Thanks.

I live here and I am not management. I have complained about noisy neighboors and they contacted the individual. In my opinion it is not as bad as you say. But everyone is entitled to your own opinion. Sorry that you left so bitter - good luck with your new residence.
