A pretty good place to live

I've been here since the beginning of the year. Aside from a couple of issues with maintenance, this place is pretty good. I have a fireplace, a garage, and lots of room in my apartment. I have one of the larger one bedroom floor plans in the front of the complex, by Ohio Dr. I don't have any pest problems, and I have seen the pest control guys out here. I also have two cats, so perhaps these rodents others have are avoiding my building. My neighbors are nice, I don't know them but I haven't had a complaint from or against any of them. I don't even HEAR them unless my windows are open.
I see the manager has had a lot of negative flack from the reviews here. I just sat with her last week about a maintenance issue. She was nice, listened, and agreed that the work needed to be done that day. She even called me before they closed to let me know that maintenance was coming by soon, she had personally sent them. I'm not saying maintenance sucks. It's just something that comes with renting an apartment. Otherwise, the staff is nice.
Of course, if you run into the office with a hot head and start screaming and smashing things then how would you expect them to treat you' I'd want you out of my office too. You should try approaching the staff in a calm manner. No one gets their way from yelling at people. If it's a serious issue, go above the manager and get it taken care of. I've yet to have to go past the manager, and the ONE time I HAD to talk to her my issue was addressed that day. The other times I've spoken to she's helped with simple questions. No complaints here.
I was a little worried about the water bills at first, but honestly, I pay $20-26 a month. Seems reasonable. I also try not to use a ton of water and electricity. My rent is awesome for my square footage. I moved from The Village community in Dallas. This area is nice, and there's no sign of a ghetto surrounding it. THAT was a concern when I was looking around. I also love the community-involved events; the Garage sale, free dinners and breakfasts, the BBQs, and movie nights. It's fun and you get to see and meet others in the community. And the couple that heads it are super nice, even invited me to Christmas dinner and church since I m not from north Texas. It was a nice gesture.
Now it's not all ponies and ice-cream. The parking lot racecars are VERY true. It bothers me because of the children, and my girl friend. I'd suggest speed humps/bumps randomly placed, especially by the entrances. I do wish people were better about picking up the dog poop. If I see someone leave it I'll be sure to give it back to them so they can take care of it. The gym isn't all the great, it's also a pretty small room. It's free and I'm sure others dig it, the treadmill and elliptical are good. I'll keep my gym membership though. Parking is occasionally scarce, just occasionally.
Overall I'm happy, plan to renew too, hopefully for the same rent price. I would, and have, recommended the complex, and have had TONS of compliments on my apartment and the area.
This ISN'T a paid posting.
I'm in building 19, above the garages.
Summary;
If you're looking for a good deal on an apartment in a nice area then at least take a look at La Costa.
If you want to be wined and dined and have your ass kissed and wiped, you'll have to pay extra, then Uptown maybe where you wanna be.

If you are in fact paying $20 to $26 per month for water proves how capricious and inappropriate the water allocation is. Water bills are all over the board. They'll bill for whatever they think they can get away with. Some families are paying over $70 just for water. I know a family of 2 being billed over $50 a month and they don't even have a washer drier. Go on vacation for a month, don't use a drop and you'll still come home to a padded water bill. Tenants must collectively complain to their state legislators, or landlords will continue with this flagrant abuse.

Anonymous doesn't seem to give you credibility at all. All you do is rant on here about how you hate this place. Either do something about it, or piss off. And please, don't respond to this. This is my post, I'll just request it be removed.
