I have been here at La Ventura for more than one year. I see a lot of turnover, but the units are re-leased very quickly. Unfortunately, we are in a bit of a crime wave. The tornado/straight line winds did a lot of damage on the property, including knocking down sections of fence between La Ventura and the less than desirable apartments next door. La Ventura had the knocked down trees (50 to 75) cleared out within days. They seem to want to put all the blame on the neighboring apartment for the fence replacement. Since when does a fence between property owners not belong to both owners when repairs are needed' I'm not sure why they won't just pay for a nice and protective fence to keep the criminals out. The other side has little incentive to hurry up. Yes, the remodeled pool area is nice. How much did that cost' I would expect that a really nice 8 foot fence along the south property line would cost about as much. There have been some home burglaries and car break in's the last several weeks. I'm not sure why Management won't put a bulletin out. Actually, I do know why. They want to sweep these types of incidents under the rug. Don't believe me; go to the Plano Police Dept website and type in 2600 Ventura in the search bar. There are several incidents worth reading about in the weekly Police Blotter if you are considering renting here. If the crime keeps up, and management doesn't fix the fence, I'm gone when my lease is up. Another issue worth mentioning is the smell from the neighbor. The noise is minimal, but I smell everything that is cooked, especially when my AC is running. I guess there is little separating our two air vents. The spices used next door are very strong and can linger all night. When I'm not thinking about the recent crime, the smell alone makes me want to move. Miss you Megan.. the office is not the same without you.
