Not as bad as these reviews

My family moved to Plano for a new job, so we were very rushed in our search. We visited several apartments near my new office, and found that the Livingston was the best value. We chose the 3 bedroom, 1300 square foot unit, since we'd just moved from a house, this was the largest option we found in the area.

We stayed for 11 months and I was surprised when I saw the ratings (after we moved in) here, and at other rating sites. We had a very good relationship with the office staff. We routinely had packages delivered to the front desk and while the system for picking them up isnt' the most secure ever, it was convenient. They got to know our family, and several times the weekend woman would invite my children back later in the day for cookies. She would see us coming home or walking around the property and make sure to tell my daughter that she could come and get cookies on Saturday. Every Saturday she would follow through.

We had high electricity bills. That's true.
We were on a corner unit, so only a few of our walls were shared with neighbors. The walls weren't quite as thin as I've read described, but it's nothing like our houses have been.

I loved having a 2 car garage included in our rent, and accessible from our apartment. That was super convenient. We never experienced any theft or safety issues. The gates didn't always work, but again, we had a garage so we were sort of isolated from any type of threat.

Maintainence was always prompt and they handled everything we ever asked for. Promptly. We dropped a TV, and it made a hole in the wall. They came to fix it within 2 days. We had them spray, change light bulbs, and do other repairs. Again, they always came right away and left notes indicating that they had been there while we were out.

I hated our kitchen...it was tiny, and the laundry closet (not room....closet) was attached to the already too small kitchen. But, for a temporary housing solution it worked fine.

The pool had an issue that spring. There was a rat in one of the drains. it took at least 2 weeks for them to clean it out. It was gross. Otherwise the pool is lovely. We moved in August 2006 and bought our new house in July 2007.
If I had to make a recommendation to another family, I'd say the Livingston was pretty good. Just prepare for high utilities, and a small kitchen.

Other problems we had: 2 neighbors had cats and the cats were ALWAYS outside. They were on our guests cars when they'd leave, or at our door. Not the apartments fault, but still...

There are also a significant number of "dating age" teens in the complex. it wasn't uncommon to see them hanging outside. They all seemed nice enough, but like teens who were sneaking around to be with their boyfriend/girlfriends. Again, not the apartments fault...but it was noticeable to me and most of my guests.

I liked it. And you can't beat the school district/feeder schools. GREAT schools.
