Just to let future residents that even plan to look or lease an apartment at Mcdermott Place. On Wen. May 15th I came in to lease a 3 bedroom apartment. Accompanied by Barbara Hampton we were informed that this was the last one remaining. So we decided that we were going to take the look and lease deal which requires a 100.00 dep to hold the apartment for 24 hours. We then ask her if we needed to fill out the application and she said no we had 24 hours that the apartment would be taken off the market to do so as long as we left the 100.00 dep. So we did so. The next morning at 10:00 a.m. Barbara calls to inform us that she forgot to take the apartment off the market for 24 hours and that someone was taking the apartment and bascially we were ---- out(KEEP IN MIND GOOD OLD PIECE OF CRAP BARBARA WAS THE ONE WHO LEASED THE APRTMENT OUT FROM UNDER US). So now she has our 100.00 and we have no apartment. I called Barbara back and she informed that someone else had rented the apartment out and that she had told us numerous times that we needed to have the application back by 9:00a.m. in which yesterday she told us that she wouldn't even be in the office until 10:00 a.m. and 24 hours from the time we came in would be 4:00 or after the next day. Barbara Hampton is a LIER and is only concered about the money and renting the apartment no matter who she has to under cut to do so. By the way she bragged so much on these apartments that she is the one that told me about this website to look at.Boy did she screw herself. Anyway I then had to speak with the Manager named Melissa because apparently Mrs. Barbara didnt want to take the heat so she decided that she would transfer me to Melissa. Melissa then stated that Barbara was basically full of ---- and she appoligized for the inconvience but did I try Courtney Manor next door. Melissa then proceeded to call Courtney Manor and guess what !!!!! they didnt have anything either. Oh!! by the way we also told Barbara Yesterday that we were crunched for time we had to move in a week. The moral Is that all you people that said that everyone was so full of ---- that did not recommend Mcdermott Apartments. Could you please tell me how you think that this is the best customer service and place to live EVER!!!!!!! By the way Kissing these people asses will probably not get you anywhere so why bother. How would you like and what would you think anout these apartments if that happened to you' Would they still be so Awesome''' Needless to say I think that anyone that had to experience this would not recommend this place and even if you do get fooled by all the run around ---- they feed you. Just remember that Yea it will probably be great until you Lease the Apartment and If you do decide to do so I ADVISE YOU NOT TO USE BARBARA HAMPTON TO DO SO.

What is wrong with all of you. It sounds like you are so full of bitterness. I can't believe that you would spend all this time bashing this nice lady due to a mistake that she made. I live at McDermott Place and Barbara is nothing but kind to everyone that she meets. It is people like you that are on the news starting conflict with people people. Have you ever heard of anger management classes. Peace be with all of you

According to my experience, a victim for their different price quoted to different potential customers, they,i.e. the aparment office people, showed many potential customer for that apartment, then they decided to rent that apartment for the higher price they quoted to. They are violating the housing discrimination. riskfree90d@aol.com

I agree with you all on this. I renewed my lease last year for one year and of course, there was a rent increase. Keep in mind I'd already lived here 2 years and had never been late on my rent. I've never had problems with any other tenants and no complaints have been lodged against me. I asked several times if I could negotiate the rent amount and possibly even keep paying the same amount. I was told some hogwash about the decision coming from Corporate Headquarters and they (the folks in the office) have no say-so. Then I talk to several other tenants who had successfully renegotiated their renewal rates (hmm, go figure). There are so many observations I've made since being here; the staff has gone to squat over the past three years. And I won't name names because I'm trying not to make this personal, but yes, there is some back-biting going on. I'll leave it at that. I cannot wait to get the hell out of here.
I don't know if they send these folks to a special school to learn how to be insensitive, uncaring, money-hungry, prejudice snobs or what, but I've experienced the same things in several properties in this area: high turnover (as soon as I move in, it seems that in no time, much of the old staff disappears and their replacements often leave something to be desired). It seems that they're on their best behavior and will promise you the moon when trying to get you to sign that lease, but once you're in, their true colors show.
Just my two cents. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Wow. For someone who posts such a nasty ANONYMOUS comment online, you sure don't mind slamming Barbara. I lived at these apartments the past year before buying a house and was very pleased with the amount of apartment we got for the money, along with the cleanliness of the community, and the promptness of any maintenance request. While I could have been more pleased with how some of the office staff handled some telephone calls, I ALWAYS was impressed by Barbara. She is a very kind person and took the time to take an interest in the lives of my wife and myself. Next time you have an issue with a business dealing, I suggest you handle it like an adult and speak with the manager, or leave a poor review of the COMPANY. It takes a person with very low self worth and esteem of others to blast someone personally. Remember, you generally end up being treated with the same standard you use to treat others. And people that respond the way you do usually die early of heart attacks, high blood pressure, and hypertension. Have a nice day, and thanks Barbara for making our stay a pleasant one.
Sincerely, Chad Johnston

Whoooo! This is awesome, I'm still moving here. Barbara was great when we decided to move here. Afterwards, we didn't hear anything from the office staff. Property is well kept, tenants are great. Maintenance, is no where to be found. But everyone must realize, EVERYONE has their own opinion. Don't hate others for their mistakes, their bashing words, and their happy thoughts about McDermott Place. I'm netural with the whole thing. If we have a repair, we report it, maintenance does not respond, we fix it to the best we can, when it gets out of control and turn into a emergency, we stop by the office, demand assistance, they come out and take care of it. Barbara is only human, humans make mistakes. Humans let the negative over power the positive anyways, so no matter what they do to improve the situation, you NEGATIVE people, will remain hostile. You POSITIVE people, will remain appreciative. Just get over yourselves and get a HOUSE! or DEAL with it!
