I've lived here for 3 years and now have to leave.
Problems 1) Parking, its about as bad as it can get. Come home after dark expect a 300 yard walk.
2) Rodents, I haven't seen one in my apartment but I can hear them running around in my ceiling at night. Management has been setting up traps where they come in and out of the building and capturing/killing them at a rate of 4-5 a week but its not putting an end to the problem.
3) Tornado, Last week a tornado/high winds ripped large sections of shingles and roofing sheeting off of several of the buildings. They now have blue tarp rooftops. At least 40-50 windows were blown out and replaced with plywood. 1/2 a dozen of the carports ripped apart and damaged a bunch of cars.
4) Water bill, since the new management team took over and changed our billing company my water bill has tripled. When I contacted them about it they tried to tell me that the rate was the same and that I must be using 3x as much water as before.
5) Trash bill, they decided to add a valet service for trash pickup. The new service picks it up from our door rather than at the curb where we had to put it before. ( for me its a 10 foot difference in placement of trash ) Upgraded service tripled what we paid for trash pickup. Plus now if you need to throw away more than will fit in this tiny kitchen trashcan they gave us we have to put it in the dumpster ourselves.
6) Garage, My detached garage uses power from an adjoining apartment that isn't mine. The tenant moved out and shut off their power and now my garage opener will not function and I can't get my car out of the garage. ( I had no idea this was the case until the opener stopped functioning ) Management response is to 1. disconnect the opener with a release cable and use it manually. Something I can't do because to get to the cable I would need to climb on top of my car. 2. Wait until someone moves in the apartment and power is restored.
7) Rent, On top of all of this they want to raise my rent $125 a month.
I used to really like this place. All of this seemed to go south in the last 9 months of so. Mostly since the property was sold and we got a new management team. And to be fair they didn't cause the tornado. They did however try to sell me on a rent increase because of "improved property value" when my roof is a tarp and my windows are 8ply birch.
I'm pretty sure, if i was so inclined, find a place with blue tarp roofing, boarded up windows and a sweet rat infestation for a weeee bit less than $1200 a month.

Thank you, I really needed to know, because I did just view this property on 6*26*08... almost a future resident.
