I enjoyed my year at Preston at Tulane, even though the property changed hands and the new management was in the process of upgrading the place to sell as condos. I moved out after a year, but wouldn't have minded staying if I hadn't moved into my house.

Like some of the other reviews indicate, there were some growing pains associated with the transition to condos... times where maintenance was slow or announced upgrades did not happen on schedule. I am still wondering why they installed security gates... they're a pain, and they weren't needed. I do have to say that place looks a lot better now than it did a year ago, and the grounds and overall appearance of the complex have improved dramatically for the better.

The staff was relatively helpful and generally good-natured, although Mia initially had an unfortunate way of speaking down to you as though she couldn't be bothered. However, I learned that if you were willing to work with folks on a reasonable basis, everyone on the staff was helpful and willing to work with you.

Ultimately, the place is a good value and a safe place to live. I enjoyed the location and particularly my apartment unit. I also liked my neighbors, and found that they were varied in profession, age, and station of life, just like anywhere else I've lived. Frankly, if you're as high-strung as a couple of these reviewers seem, then I would suggest that Preston at Tulane might not be the best place for you. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend it.
