Not typical Plano apartments

First off, I admit, my experience could've been a lot worse. The apartments are fairly decent: good location, good square footage, but appliances are somewhat out-of-date (refridgerator makes loud noises which you learn to live with eventually). Also, the reasonable prices (below most Plano complexes) are definetly a "hook." However, I have learned that you get what you pay for and sometimes it's better to pay a little more. Here's why:

The day I signed my lease, a tennant saw me waiting in the clubhouse and said "don't move here.. you'll regret it" (I should've listened). At first everything as good, except for roudy neighbors who either had people over at all hours of the day or was fighting with his girlfriend (cops actually came once after they broke a window). Someone even left a "40" (beer bottle) sitting on my balcony once. Later, tennant moved, problem over. However, lately, sometimes there are people hanging out of their cars drinking late at night (my girlfriend even said she smelled weed one time as she was coming over). I also noticed there are some shady-looking people moving in lately (not your typical "young professionals" or families, as you may be told). I also had a someone break in my apartment during a long weekend I was away from town. And just two weeks ago, I got a notice that someone else in my unit was victim of burglary. Granted I know this stuff happens, but this was my cue to find some place else.

Basically, Summer Meadows isn't the worst, but for this area, I expected a lot more. If you're on a strict budget and really want to live in Plano, then maybe look into it, but otherwise, spend an extra 100 bucks and go somewhere with nicer apartments, an entrance gate, better parking, and better tennants. Again... just my personal opinion. Thanks!
